Tyreek Hill is Coming Back Sooner Than Expected

Tyreek HIll

Free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill posted on social media this week that it’s “almost time to get off the couch and get to work,” fueling speculation that his return to the NFL could be getting closer.

Hill has not played since Week 4 of the 2025 season, when he suffered a dislocated knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL, in a game against the New York Jets. He underwent surgery days later and has had a second procedure since, and as recently as this past July, he described still working to regain strength in his left leg. Miami released him afterward, making him a free agent for the first time in his career.

No specific return date has been confirmed. Hill’s Monday post suggests his rehab is progressing, but reporting so far has stopped short of naming a firm timetable, and it remains unclear whether he’ll be ready to sign with a team in the next several weeks or later in the season. Most teams are expected to wait until he looks closer to game-ready before making a move, given the severity of the injury and the fact that he’ll be entering his age-32 season.

Where Hill lands will matter enormously for his Fantasy value once he is cleared. Kansas City, the team that made him a star before trading him to Miami in 2022, has come up as a possible reunion partner with Patrick Mahomes still at quarterback. Houston and Baltimore have also been mentioned as teams that could use a proven downfield threat. None of those situations has produced confirmed mutual interest yet, and Hill remains unsigned as of this week.

Even accounting for the uncertainty, Hill’s track record makes him a name worth rostering in keeper and deeper formats. He was selected to eight Pro Bowls across his career with Kansas City and Miami, and at his best he was one of the most explosive receivers in the league regardless of scheme. How much he has left after a dislocated knee and two surgeries is the open question, and it’s fair to expect some rust whenever he does return, given how long he’ll have been away from live football.

For managers with open bench space, Hill is worth a speculative add now rather than waiting for a team to officially sign him, since his market could move quickly once he’s cleared for contact. In shallower leagues, there’s less urgency given how much remains unresolved, both medically and in terms of which team he’ll join. The situation is worth checking weekly as more news develops, particularly around his workouts and any team visits once he begins that process.
