Tyreek Hill Could Be In-Season Option for Chiefs
Free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill remains a name to watch for the Kansas City Chiefs later this season. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Hill remains fond of his former team, and a potential in-season reunion could make a lot of sense once he’s healthy enough to play.
The expectation, per Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus, is that a comeback attempt could come as soon as October. “His doctors have recommended though that he postpone his comeback until perhaps sometime in October,” Rosenhaus said on The Pat McAfee Show. “We’re playing it on the safe side. We’re not in a rush. We just want him to be completely healthy.” Even with that timeline floated, there’s no indication Hill and the Chiefs are currently working toward an actual deal, and ESPN’s Nate Taylor has noted Kansas City remains the only team explicitly connected to him so far.
Not everyone is convinced October is a realistic marker, either. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox has described this as a genuinely high-variance situation, suggesting Hill may not push to sign anywhere until well into the season, potentially not until teams are deep into playoff positioning. That’s a meaningfully more cautious outlook than the earlier October chatter, and a reminder of just how unresolved this situation remains.
Hill is still working his way back from the devastating knee injury that ended his 2025 season after just four games. He dislocated the knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL, during a Week 4 matchup against the New York Jets, finishing the abbreviated season with 21 catches for 265 yards and one touchdown.
Kansas City already has Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Tyquan Thornton atop its receiver depth chart, so plenty would need to be sorted out in terms of role and snap distribution if Hill eventually does return. For now, at 32 years old and still working through a complicated recovery, he’s more of a speculative stash in deeper dynasty and keeper-style leagues than someone fantasy managers need to add anywhere right now.
