Buccaneers Gash Vikings 36-17
The streak for road-dog teams continued Thursday night as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran up the scoreboard on the Vikings in front of a very pissed off home crowd.
Doug Martin had a massive fantasy night carrying the ball 29 times for 135 yards and a touchdown. The Tampa rookie RB also caught a 64 yard screen pass and bolted through the Vikings DEF as he found his way to the end zone. The Buccaneers are now 2-1 after the bye week and have scored 102 points in those three games.
Doug Martin stole the spot light but Adrian Peterson had a solid performance with 123 yards and a touchdown.
Christian Ponder looked terrible and had to deal with a heavy dose of blitzes much of the night. Ponder finished 19 for 35, 251 yards with one touchdown and one pick. If you ask me, there may be a race going on between Ponder and Cam Newton for who is regressing faster.
Strangely enough, the NFL Thursday night games not only have the line-makers stumped predicting the correct favorites, but has a high number of NFL teams winning on the road.
Whatever happened to home field advantage?
Should we go ahead and pencil in a Colts victory for week 10 against the Jag’s? What about a Dolphins win over the Bills in week 11. Bring on Thanksgiving and we have the Texans at Lions, Skins at Cowboys and Patriots at Jets. There could be a serious trend to road-team win favorites brewing on Thursdays.
