Texans Trade OL to Browns
[the_ad id=”105842″]The Cleveland Browns acquired offensive tackle Cam Robinson from the Houston Texans on Monday in exchange for a late-round pick swap in 2027.
Robinson started the season opener for Houston against the Los Angeles Rams but appeared only on special teams in Weeks 2 and 3 before being inactive for the Texans’ Week 4 victory over Tennessee. The 29-year-old was replaced at left tackle by rookie Aireontae Ersery, who was drafted in the second round this offseason. Robinson suffered a knee injury during training camp that sidelined him for several weeks, contributing to his reduced role.
The Browns send a 2027 sixth-round pick to Houston and receive Robinson along with a 2027 seventh-round pick. Robinson signed a one-year contract with the Texans in March worth up to $12 million, but played just 59 offensive snaps across three games this season.
Cleveland needed reinforcements after losing left tackle Dawand Jones to a season-ending injury in Week 3 against Green Bay. Jones underwent successful surgery on September 26 to repair a torn lateral collateral ligament and hamstring avulsion. The injury occurred when Packers safety Javon Bullard delivered a low hit that the NFL later acknowledged should have drawn a penalty. Jones is expected to make a full recovery for the 2026 season.
Right tackle Jack Conklin has also missed the past three games with an elbow injury after initially leaving Week 1 with an eye injury. The injuries forced Cleveland to rely on backups KT Leveston and Cornelius Lucas at the tackle positions. Leveston started at left tackle and Lucas at right tackle in the Browns’ 34-10 loss to Detroit on Sunday.
Robinson was drafted 34th overall by Jacksonville in 2017 and spent eight seasons with the Jaguars before being traded to Minnesota midseason in 2024. He started 10 games for the Vikings after Christian Darrisaw suffered a season-ending injury. Robinson has started 102 of 104 career games.
The Browns face the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, October 5, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Eastern time. The game counts as one of Cleveland’s nine home contests this season and marks the first time the Browns have played internationally since 2017.
Cleveland enters Week 5 with a 1-3 record after defeating Green Bay 13-10 in Week 3. The offensive line allowed three sacks and 19 quarterback pressures in Sunday’s loss to the Lions.
