Rookie wide receiver Elic Ayomanor, a fourth-round pick out of Stanford, has been developing solid chemistry with rookie quarterback Cameron Ward during training camp and preseason action.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano reported that Ayomanor has caught the attention of the coaching staff and added, “Don’t be surprised if the fourth-rounder is the No. 2 receiver.” That is high praise for a player who was not expected to carry immediate responsibility but has steadily climbed the depth chart over the past two months.
Ayomanor’s preseason performance highlighted his potential to make an impact. He hauled in five passes for 72 yards on nine targets, several of them coming from Ward in live action. The two rookies appeared comfortable working together, with Ayomanor consistently finding space against coverage and Ward showing confidence in targeting him.
Veteran Calvin Ridley remains the clear WR1 in Tennessee’s passing attack. Behind him, however, opportunities are wide open. Ayomanor is competing with Tyler Lockett, Van Jefferson, and fellow rookie Chimere Dike for playing time. Lockett, who joined the Titans after spending his career with the Seattle Seahawks, brings experience but is nearing the back end of his career. Jefferson provides depth but has not secured a consistent role with previous teams. Dike, a mid-round pick from Wisconsin, is still developing.
The Titans’ passing game will also continue to feature tight end Chig Okonkwo, who has established himself as a reliable weapon over the middle. Even with Ridley and Okonkwo commanding steady target shares, there remains plenty of room for a rookie to carve out a role, especially with the team’s focus on retooling the offense under head coach Brian Callahan.
Ayomanor’s prospect profile adds to the optimism. At Stanford, he demonstrated size, strength, and the ability to win contested catches. His route running has improved, and coaches have praised his work ethic and ability to adapt to the pro game quickly. Pairing with a quarterback like Ward, who thrives on timing and accuracy, gives Ayomanor a chance to establish himself as a dependable option on the outside.
Fantasy football managers should keep Ayomanor on their radars. While he may not start the year as a guaranteed contributor, the opportunity is there for him to become a regular part of the offense. In deeper formats, he is worth a late-round pick as a player with upside if his preseason progress carries into the regular season.
