In the early part of every NFL season, the fantasy football community holds their breath and hopes that their newly drafted players do not suffer one of those heartbreaking season-ending injuries. This past season claimed a few names, but one of the more notable ones was Danny Woodhead when he went down in week 2 with a knee injury against the Jaguars. It would be the last time Woodhead would wear a Chargers uniform as he would become a free agent and ultimately sign with the Baltimore Ravens.
Week 1 featured a double-header on Monday night that had two completely different games. The first game was a close shoot-out while the other was a blowout. Week 2 features only one Monday night game, but one that has plenty of fantasy implications as the Philadelphia Eagles travel to the Chicago Bears. The Eagles look to improve to 2-0, while the Bears are looking for their first win of 2016.
Lost in the shuffle of all the quarterback controversy that has embroiled Philadelphia this offseason, there are multiple questions surrounding the ground game of the Eagles. If, as expected, new coach Doug Pederson makes this the staple of his new offense, it is surely logical to look at who will be entrusted to shoulder this burden. One of the 2015 marquee free agent signings, DeMarco Murray is now a participant in the "Exotic Smashmouth" in Tennessee with the Titans, leaving behind a stable of backs in Ryan Mathews, Darren Sproles, Kenjon Barner and recent draftee Wendell Smallwood.
The days of loading up on three-down, bell-cow running backs to power your fantasy squad to a ground-oriented championship are long gone. In fact, the pro and fantasy games have become so pass-heavy that running backs are now disregarded almost as much as tight ends used to be.

Every year, there are players who slide down draft boards farther than they should because owners’ perceptions about them are flawed in some way. Here are 10 such players to keep your eye on in 2014...
The final game of the Divisional Round this weekend features teams that are very familiar with each other, as AFC West rivals San Diego (9-7) and Denver (13-3) meet for the third time this season.
The Bengals put the Chargers playoff hopes out of reach with a 17-10 win at San Diego in early December. Thanks to a 4-game win streak and a lot of help, the Chargers find themselves with a chance at vengeance
The fantasy football playoff push is right around the corner so if you have been hanging with Mathews this long obviously you will have him as an option in the playoffs. He has done very little fantasy wise this year, but that doesn't mean he should be ignored going down the stretch. Relying on the former Fresno State Bulldog comes down to one thing – trust.
