Streaming Defenses Week 12

Streaming Defenses Week 12

Week 12 is the final bye week of the season and with only 2 weeks until the playoffs and teams jockeying for playoff position finding the right streaming option can get you into the playoffs. The right stream can turn into gold. Those that streamed the Patriots in week 2 against Miami found a week winning defense on a weekly basis. The Steelers are another defense that has been in this column several times and has become a dominant defense. As we reach for the playoffs, check the matchups and look for a solid defense with great matchups for weeks 14-16.

As for last week, I had my best week of streaming tight ends with Ryan Griffin (16.9 points) and Kyle Rudolph (12.7 points). Derek Carr provided another strong week as a streamer with 20.78 points. Once again, the defenses came through with the Jets putting up 9 and the Raiders scoring 13.

Streaming Defenses Week 12

As we gear up for week 12, I always suggest starting by taking a peek at the odds for the week. Sports Intel is a great site for that. From there we need to focus on the bye weeks. The Chargers, Chiefs, Vikings, and Cardinals are on bye. this means we need to find streamers for Philip Rivers, Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Kyler Murray at QB. Tight end is a tough week with Hunter Henry and Travis Kelce on bye. Let’s dive into the week.

Streaming Defenses

Cleveland Browns

50% owned Yahoo/29.1% owned ESPN

No Myles Garrett, no Larry Ogunjobi, no problem. The Browns square off with the Miami Dolphins and this typically means good things. The Browns defense scored 16 points last week against the Steelers and will remain at home this week. Over the last 3 weeks, Ryan Fitzpatrick has brought back a little of the Fitzmagic we have all come to know and love by only throwing 1 interception. On the flip side, he hasn’t thrown a touchdown in either of the last 2 games. Fitzpatrick is due for a flop game and the Browns are setting their sights on a late-season playoff push. The Browns defense is going to come out fired up, at home, and ready to make a statement.

Detroit Lions

8% owned Yahoo/8% owned ESPN

The Lions defense is a deep league option this week. They have not been good this year and are fresh off a -1 point week. Week 12 will see Detroit travel to Washington to take on the Redskins. Over the last two starts for Haskins, he has thrown for 358 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception. The Redskins offense is one of the worst in the NFL and the Lions defense should be able to take advantage of that.

Streaming Quarterbacks

Sam Darnold

22% owned Yahoo/12% owned ESPN

After an embarrassingly bad streak from Sam Darnold, he has come back the last 2 weeks and been good. He has over 21 points in each of the last 2 weeks and now sees a Raiders defense that is allowing the 8th most points to quarterbacks. Over the last 2 games, Darnold has 523 yards passing and 6 total touchdowns. With the Jets running game still being in shambles, they are going to have to rely on Darnold’s arm to lead the team in week 12.

Ryan Tannehill

21% owned Yahoo/15% owned ESPN

Since taking over as the starter in week 7, Ryan Tannehill is tied at QB8 in points per game at 20.9. He has been a solid starter and produced excellent numbers for those that have used him to stream. Week 12 now sees Tannehill matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars have been a middle of the road defense this season. With both teams still fighting for a playoff spot, the Titans are going to have to continue to rely on Tannehill under center.

Streaming Tight End

Jacob Hollister

34% owned Yahoo/15% owned ESPN

Jacob Hollister has taken over the Will Dissly role. Dissly was a feature in the offense when he was healthy and was one of the best tight ends in the game when he played. Hollister is a end zone threat and a chain mover. He has developed a trust with Russell Wilson that should continue to show on the field. In addition to streaming this week, if you have championship aspirations, Hollister gets the Cardinals in week 16.

Ryan Griffin

4% owned Yahoo/1% owned ESPN

I have picked up Ryan Griffin in every league I could this week. He is playing at a high level and an in his last 2 starts, he has scored over 15 points. Griffin gets the Raiders in week 12 who have allowed the 3rd most points to the position. As stated earlier, the Jets running game has struggled and Griffin should continue to be featured in the passing game.
