Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 7

Jordan Love

Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 7

Week 6 was filled with upsets and injuries. The Cleveland Browns defeated the San Francisco 49ers and the New York Jets came back from a 14-3 deficit to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles. Injuries include Christian McCaffrey, Trevor Lawrence, David Montgomery, Jimmy Garoppolo, D.K. Metcalf, amongst others. Preparing for week 7 is difficult with the increased team byes and players riddled with injuries. However, navigating around both scenarios is feasible if done correctly. Now is the time that you will most likely call that one player on your bench that you have stashed all season to your starting lineup to help you win your matchup.

Here are my recommendations for Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Week 7.

Startem Sitem

Jordan Love

Packers @ Broncos | 4:25 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 1.7%

In week 5, Love had one of the worst games of his young career throwing three interceptions in the Packers loss to the Raiders. In that game he only scored 4.98 fantasy points for team owners. After the game, head coach Matt LaFleur refused to put all the blame on the quarterback stating that numerous players/things were to blame. Hopefully, after their week 6 bye the Packers are ready to get back to action. In week 7, Love and the Packers offense face off against the Denver Broncos defense that is one of the worst passing defenses in the league. In a good matchup, it is worth starting Love who has the potential to put up mid-end to high-end QB2 numbers.

Sam Howell

Commanders @ Giants | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 6.3%

Howell is showing why the Commanders trusted him with the starting job in the first place leading them to a win against the Atlanta Falcons in week 6. Fantasy team owners were also pleased with his performance on Sunday, scoring 18.34 fantasy points. The Giants defense showed on Sunday night that they have the potential to give a top offense such as the Bills a run for their money. Except, I believe it was just an off night for the Bills offense and I fully expect Howell to put up mid-end QB2 numbers against them in week 7.

Kareem Hunt

Browns @ Colts | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 1.1%

Hunt and Ford split carries in the Cleveland Browns surprise win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon. The one thing that separated the two running backs was Hunt’s usage in the passing game. He finished the day scoring 16.1 fantasy points in PPR leagues. Hunt looks to continue where he left off and should be a staple in the offensive gameplan throughout the season, barring injury. The Colts have notoriously given up double-digit fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. Even with Hunt splitting carries with Ford, Hunt has a good chance to put up RB2 numbers in fantasy leagues in week 7 and should be considered a low-end to mid-end RB2.

Zach Evans

Steelers @ Rams | 4:05 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 0.0%

In the Los Angeles Rams win over the Arizona Cardinals both starting running back Kyren Williams and backup running back Ronnie Rivers suffered injuries and are ruled out for week 7. This leaves the third string running back Zach Evans who was drafted by the Rams in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft as the lone man in the backfield. This is a great matchup for the rookie in his first time starting as the Steelers defense allows 19.0 fantasy points on average to opposing running backs. The Rams were high on Evans when they drafted him, and this week he gets to show why! Evans should be considered a high-end RB2 at his floor and a low-end RB1 at his ceiling this week.

Brandon Aiyuk

49ers @ Vikings | 8:15 pm EST Monday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 66.0%

Unfortunately, both Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel suffered injuries in the San Francisco 49ers loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. This hampers the Kyle Shanahan offense exponentially. In wake of injuries, wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk who scored 11.6 fantasy points in PPR leagues this past weekend, will receive more targets. The Minnesota Vikings are a good matchup for the 49ers offense that is looking to rebound from their loss. The Vikings defense has consistently allowed wide receivers to score double-digit fantasy points. Fantasy team owners should enjoy a productive week from Aiyuk who has the potential to put up WR1 numbers, especially if McCaffrey and Samuel are both ruled out in week 7.

Drake London

Falcons @ Buccaneers | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 18.8%

London’s fantasy production is starting to catch fire lately and it doesn’t look as if it is going to slow down anytime soon. In the Atlanta Falcons loss to the Washington Commanders, London scored 21.5 fantasy points in PPR leagues. Honestly, if quarterback Desmond Ridder steps up his game, London could accumulate even higher fantasy numbers. The Buccaneers defense just allowed Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown to score 30.4 fantasy points in PPR leagues which led all the receivers in week 6. London has a great chance to put up astronomical numbers in week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense and should be considered a high-end WR1 in week 7.

Terry McLaurin

Commanders @ Giants | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 33.6%

McLaurin led the team in targets and scored 14.1 fantasy points in PPR leagues for fantasy team owners on Sunday. The New York Giants defense allowed Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs to score 20 points in PPR leagues on Sunday night. Fantasy team owners should expect McLaurin to continue to receive most of the targets and he should be considered a low-end to mid-end WR1 in week 7.

Michael Mayer

Raiders @ Bears | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 0.2%

Starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a back injury in the Las Vegas Raiders win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Backup quarterback Brian Hoyer took his place. Mayer was targeted often by both quarterbacks which indicates his increased involvement in the Raiders offense. Even with Garoppolo possibly out for week 7, the Raiders offense, Mayer included has a great matchup. The Bears defense statistically are weak against the tight end position giving up 7.0 fantasy points on average. Mayer should be considered a mid-end to high-end TE2 this week.

Start Sit

Kirk Cousins

49ers @ Vikings | 8:15 pm EST Monday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 59.3%

Without wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Cousins looked lost only scoring 8.74 fantasy points on Sunday. It doesn’t get any better in week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers defense that is one of the best passing defenses in the league. It is safe this week to bench Cousins this week.

Rachaad White

Falcons @ Buccaneers | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 45.1%

The Buccaneers offense cannot get the running game going this season and it continues this week against the Atlanta Falcons defense. The Falcons defense has been solid in containing the run and will show that once again this week. I recommend sitting White in week 7.

Jerry Jeudy

Packers @ Broncos | 4:25 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 27.9%

In the Denver Broncos loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, Jeudy scored 4.4 fantasy points in PPR leagues. With all the trade rumors surrounding the Denver Broncos wide receivers, it is hard to safely start either Sutton or Jeudy. It doesn’t get any better as they face off against the Green Bay Packers defense that is one of the best passing defenses in the league. I recommend sitting Jeudy in week 7.

Cole Kmet

Raiders @ Bears | 1:00 pm EST Sunday

ESPN Starting Percentage: 48.5%

Starting quarterback Justin Fields suffered a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand in the Chicago Bears loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday and is out for the foreseeable future. Kmet is one of Fields’ favorite targets and that is a non-factor now that the young quarterback is out. On the other hand, the Raiders defense performs decently against the tight-end position thus the Justin Fields less Bears offense doesn’t even stand a chance on Sunday. I recommend sitting Kmet in week 7.
