Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds

Jahmyr Gibbs

NFL rookies landing on their new teams is usually the official start to the fantasy football season.

Many positions in the 2023 NFL Draft have been criticized as being weaker than the 2022 class or classes in the past. However, this class is particularly strong at running back and tight end, which is great news for NFL clubs and fantasy football fans.

That all being said, landing spots are an important factor for these rookies, and one could argue that most of the top players were drafted by rebuilds or teams that will force them into a committee.

While the fantasy football community tries to make heads or tails of this recent draft, the sports betting community is happy about the results.

Betting on Offensive Rookie of the Year is a great future bet that can see a huge return. Sites like Betstation offer promos to a ton of different sportsbooks that you can shop for the best odds. And with no clear cut front runner, this is an excellent year to find a player with great odds

Looking Back

Don’t assume the favorites to the list above have any edge. These are all new players to the NFL, and all have to adjust to the pro game. Sometimes it can take a year or two before a young player breaks out.

2022 NFL ROTY ODDS

  • Dameon Pierce +450
  • Kenneth Walker III +700
  • Chris Olave +900
  • Drake London +1200
  • Garrett Wilson +1200  – Winner
  • Brian Robinson Jr. +1200
  • Romeo Doubs +1400
  • Kenny Pickett +1400
  • Bailey Zappe +1400
  • George Pickens +1600
  • Wan’Dale Robinson +2000

Looking at last year’s odds, you could make a case that Dameon Pierce should have won the award, but Jets Garrett Wilson squeaked it out and won the 2022 ROTY award after racking up 1103 yards and 4 touchdowns on 83 receptions.

My Early Predictions

Jahmyr Gibbs

Running Back

The Detroit Lions reached on picking Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs in the first round. Most people had him going in the late first-round pick, maybe even a day-two selection. However, the Lions snagged him 12th overall.

Regardless of where he went, Gibbs impact should be felt in his rookie year now that D’Andre Swift has been traded to the Eagles. The Lions have slowly put together a good team and are early favorites to compete for the division in 2023.

One of the reasons I like Gibbs as ROTY is the opportunity to replace the yardage and goalline touchdowns from last year after the departure of the RB duo Jamaal Williams and D’Andre Swift. A combined for 1,608 yards and 23 touchdowns are up for grabs.

The Lions did add David Montgomery, a former Chicago Bear running back who is surprisingly only 25 years old but is entering his 5th year in the league with 915 career carries.

Montgomery will still have some carries, but there is plenty of touches for Gibbs to emerge as the top rookie for 2023.
