NFL Picks: Week 15

Free NFL Pick’em: Week Fifteen

NFL PicksLast week’s games gave us a taste of playoff football. Multiple games came down to the final minutes and even final plays, and Week 15 started off with more of the same. Luckily, Sunday offers a handful of games that look to be potential thrillers. I am going to pick the games that the public is picking with great divide. These games are almost certain to come down to the wire and my goal is to help you pick the winning side.

Check out all our staff NFL Pick’em here as it continues to be a tight race. You can see all of our staff’s picks for Week 15. I am currently winning the straight up pool and I gained a few picks on the ATS leader after Week 14. With only three weeks remaining, I feel confident I will secure the season-long victory. Here are my close picks for Week 15.

Detroit at Buffalo

Spread: Buffalo -2.5

Public Pick: Detroit 56%

The Lions went down to Arizona last week and came out victorious, something we aren’t used to seeing from the Lions recently. The Bills blew a second straight game to a division rival, and had they won both games, they would currently be on a four-game winning streak. Recency bias is definitely coming into play here. Last week, more than 65% of people picked the 3-9 Cardinals to beat the Lions, and suddenly, the Lions have regained some of the public’s faith. Haven’t we all been down this road before? Don’t get burned again. Besides, the Bills play outside in the real cold, not in some air-conditioned dome…

My Pick: Buffalo 21-16

Tennessee at N.Y. Giants

Spread: Tennessee -1

Public Pick: N.Y. Giants 51%

This might be the hardest pick of the week. Tennessee has won two in a row and played well, but they have been up and down throughout the season. With their playoff lives at stake, it’s hard not to believe in them ahead of Sunday. Meanwhile, the Giants are out the playoff race, but they too have played well and their 5-8 record could easily be 8-5. Both teams want to run the ball and both teams run defenses are middling at best. I know where I stand on this one, trust in Saquon. The rookie looks like the best running back in the NFL maybe ever, and he has played only 13 games. I am not scared of Derrick Henry even after his impressive 99-yard scamper.

My Pick: N.Y. Giants 22-21

Dallas at Indianapolis

Spread: Indianapolis -3

Public Pick: Dallas 63%

Andrew Luck FantasyThe favorite is getting no love in this one. Andrew Luck has helped the Colts to re-assert themselves as a competitive football team. After starting the season 1-5, the Colts find themselves in the thick of the playoff race at 7-6. I know much of the same can be said for the Cowboys. Dallas started 3-5 and now find themselves running away with their division. The Cowboys look really good, and I like this Cowboys team more than any team they have rolled out in the last 10 years. With that said, I like Andrew Luck more. If the Colts hadn’t lost 6-0 to the Jaguars two weeks ago, do you think this game would still be picked heavily in favor of the Cowboys? I don’t think so…

My Pick: Indianapolis 24-23

Oakland at Cincinnati

Spread: Cincinnati -3

Public Pick: Cincinnati 75%

Ok so this game isn’t closely picked but I had to throw it in here because I just don’t understand what anyone is thinking here. The Bengals are taking 75% of picks!!! What? Cincinnati has lost five straight games, their starting quarterback and star receiver are both out for the season, and they will be without star linebacker Vontaze Burfict for this game. They may also be missing starting DB Dre Kirkpatrick and DE Michael Johnson. Did I mention the Bengals have lost five in a row? Remember, some teams mail it in, and some teams keep fighting. This game is the spot on example. The Raiders just beat the Steelers and nearly beat the Chiefs a week earlier. Oakland has not stopped trying, and they want to give their fans something to be excited about going forward. Meanwhile, the Cincinnati Bengals are… how do you say it? An absolute dumpster fire.

My Pick: Oakland 27-20

New England at Pittsburgh

Spread: New England -3

Public Pick: New England 69%

I’ll wrap it up with one of the best recent rivalries in football. Against the Steelers, the Patriots have won five straight and 9 of 12 during the Brady-Rothlisberger rivalry. Not much of a rivalry after all. With New England coming off a tough loss, they will be angry, and what better way to take out their anger? The Steelers and their fans have considered themselves in the same class with the Patriots for much of the last decade or two. But are they? I am sure the Patriots will take care of business, and the Steelers will be left looking in the mirror. And suddenly, making the playoffs will be a serious concern in Pittsburgh.

My Pick: New England 27-24

Eliminator/Survival Suggestions

  • Seahawks
  • Rams
  • Ravens
