NFL Fanduel Week 5: Best Buys and Advice

Fanduel Friday Week 5

Another crazy and exciting week in the NFL, only one team is left with a perfect record, The Bills have the best record in the AFC East and the Jets have two wins. The NFL is filled with excitement like when someone gets their name called on the Price Is Right. Just like the Price is Right this article is about Best Buys and Advice, think of me as your audience asking if you should bid one dollar.

The suggested Fanduel players below have been selected because they are, in my opinion, “the best bang for your buck” to build a lineup with. Also, check out the latest Empire Fantasy Podcast where Mike Rigz and I discuss more Fanduel sleepers in greater detail.

Carson Palmer @PHI

FanDuel Price: $7,200

In fantasy football, you hear the expression volume is king. Well, this could not be truer for Carson Palmer. Palmer has thrown the ball 183 times through four games which is a current pace for 732 pass attempts. The NFL record for pass attempts in a season is 727.  If you’re giving me a quarterback at his price and volume against an Eagles team who gives up the ninth most fantasy points per game but has given up over 347 passing yards in back to back games to the Giants and Chargers who have zero wins combined. I’ll take that all day to the bank.

Running Back

Aaron Jones @DAL

FanDuel Price: $5,900

NFL Fanduel Week 5Aaron Jones may be the starting running back for the Green Bay Packers. I really could stop my argument there.  Jones was good last week carrying the ball 12 times for 49 yards and a touchdown. Jones will face the Dallas Cowboys who just gave up 215 total yards and a touchdown to Todd Gurley.

Bilal Powell @CLE

FanDuel Price: $6,600

Powell went crazy in Week 4 with 163 rushing yards and one touchdown. This week he gets the Browns. I think the Jets will win this game and they probably would win the game if they handed the ball to Powell more. In the past two seasons, the Jets are 3-0 when Powell gets more than 20 carries. In those games, he has averaged 6.0 YPC.

Wide Receiver

Larry Fitzgerald @PHI

FanDuel Price: $6,700

Week 5 NFL FanduelThe Eagles have been getting eaten alive by slot wide receivers the last two games. Guess what, Fitzgerald will play out of the slot. We saw Sterling Shepard go for 133 yards on seven catches and a touchdown in Week 3 and last week Keenan Allen went for five catches for 138 yards. Look for the Cardinals to take advantage of this matchup.

Geronimo Allison @DAL

FanDuel Price: $4,600

If the Packers are without Davante Adams, that should mean an increased workload for Allison. He didn’t record a catch in Week 3 but showed flashes in Week 2 against the Bengals where he had 122 receiving yards on six catches. I am betting on the opportunity at such a low price. If he can get around eight targets from Aaron Rodgers at basically the minimum price sign me up for that.

Tight End

Antonio Gates @NYG

FanDuel Price: $4,600

Some things never change. The Giants are bad against tight ends yet again. The Giants have given up the most fantasy points, touchdowns and targets to tight ends this season. In four games they have given up five touchdowns to opposing tight ends. Antonio Gates as we know can find the end zone. I expect Gates to score at least one touchdown in this favorable matchup.

Adam Vinatieri vs. SF

FanDuel Price: $4,500

A cheap kicker, in a dome, against a bad defense, and at a cheap price. Vinatieri checks all the boxes for what I look for in a kicker. This guy has been kicking field goals as long as I have been living which is a crazy thought. The 49ers have also given up the most field goals this season with 11.

Defense /Special Teams

New York Jets @CLE

FanDuel Price: $4,300

Not a typo, start the Jets defense against the Browns. Deshone Kizer is showing some rookie mistakes which is too be expected. He currently leads the NFL with eight interceptions and this Brown’s team hasn’t shown any signs of an offense thus far in 2017. The Jets have won two games in a row and I think they will make it three in a row. Never thought I’d say the Jets would win three games this season let alone three in a row.

Thanks for reading and remember to come back next week and if you win big don’t be afraid to share some of the wealth to the guy who brought you the advice.
