NFL DraftKings Picks Week 2

NFL DraftKings Picks Week 2

There is still value in DFS salary prices this week, despite getting a full week of NFL games to judge player involvement. As the season rolls out, this article will grow into something more in-depth, focusing on types of DraftKings game formats (cash, tournament, etc.), but for now, I’m just sharing a few players I like and why.

The following are a few of my top DFS picks for week 2.

Jalen Hurts, QB

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $6,700

Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons already gave Hurts bulletin board material this week, saying Tennessee just needs to make him “be a quarterback” in the pocket. Hurts has made a habit of answering that kind of talk throughout his career, and I expect a big game in Week 2.

Philadelphia’s rebuilt offensive line after Lane Dickerson went on IR may be a blessing in disguise. A cleaner pocket changes everything for a quarterback who was previously running for his life more often than the box score showed. Dickerson was terrible last week, hurting both the pass and run game. At this price, Hurts gives you a rushing floor most quarterbacks in his salary range can’t match, plus real upside if Tennessee’s defensive line talk turns into motivation rather than a plan that actually works.

Dak Prescott, QB

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $6,400

Dallas got embarrassed on Sunday Night Football in Week 1, losing 28-20 to the Giants in a game full of self-inflicted mistakes. Prescott is not usually a salary value guy in DFS, and the fact that he’s sitting here in the mid-$6,000s says the market is still pricing in that letdown.

Dak gets Washington at home in a divisional game, and both teams are 0-1 and desperate to avoid an 0-2 hole. Prescott has the weapons and the motivation to bounce back hard, and pairing him with his top receivers in this spot lets you build a great QB-WR-WR stack

Bijan Robinson, RB

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $8,200

Robinson is the closest thing to a true lock on this slate. He commanded a 52 percent target share in Week 1 to go with 83 rushing yards, and that kind of dual-threat volume is exactly what you pay up for in DFS. There is no real path to a bad game for Robinson as long as he’s on the field, and the price reflects that he’s the engine of Atlanta’s offense in both phases. Paying up for a workhorse back with his volume ceiling is almost always the right call, and Robinson remains one of the safest building blocks at running back regardless of matchup.

Jadarian Price, RB

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $5,500

Despite what some will tell you, Price is soon-to-be Seattle’s lead back and draws an overly confident Arizona team in Week 2. This is about as favorable a combination of role and matchup as you’ll find at his price point. Multiple outlets have already flagged Price as a player inline for more carries. Price has a chance for a breakout game for cheap; this is the kind of value play that wins DFS contests when everyone else is paying up at the position.

Ashton Jeanty, RB

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $6,800

Jeanty opened the season with 102 rushing yards and two receiving touchdowns against Miami, and the receiving work is the part that matters most for DFS.

With Brock Bowers still on injured reserve, Vegas needs pass-catching production from somewhere, and Jeanty has already shown he can be part of that answer out of the backfield. A back who can hurt you on the ground and in the passing game gives you a much higher weekly floor than a pure runner, and this price still undersells how central he already is to the Raiders’ offense.

George Pickens, WR

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $6,300

Stack Pickens with Prescott and Lamb this week, and you’re betting on the same thing: a Cowboys offense coming off a bad primetime loss, at home, in a division game against a Washington team that’s also 0-1. Neither side wants to fall to 0-2, and that kind of environment tends to produce exactly the shootout that makes wide receiver stacks pay off. Pickens gives you a second read on that same game script without paying two premium prices.

Devaughn Vele, WR

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $4,200

Vele is going to be one of the more popular plays on the slate, and for good reason. New Orleans trailed for most of the second half against Detroit in Week 1, and that game script fed Vele heavily underneath as the offense played catch-up. If the Saints find themselves behind again, which is a real possibility given where this roster is right now, Vele becomes one of the top options quarterback Tyler Shough leans on.

Chalk plays earn their popularity for a reason, and at this price, Vele’s combination of target volume and game-script upside is hard to fade even in a large-field slate.

Caleb Douglas, WR

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $3,700

Douglas looks mispriced at $3,700 given that he walked into Week 1 as Miami’s leading receiver. He’ll be a popular play, but popular doesn’t mean wrong. With Miami’s receiver room thinned out, Douglas is playing significant snaps, and even in a game where the Dolphins fall behind, that usage tends to produce garbage-time production that cashes at this salary. Value at wide receiver is about opportunity relative to price, and Douglas checks that box as clearly as anyone in this range. He is an easy fit for the rest of your salary cap.

Matthew Golden, WR

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $4,700

Golden led Green Bay with 12 targets in a Week 1 loss to Minnesota, and that kind of volume in a losing effort usually means the coaching staff already trusts him as one of the top reads. Green Bay needs a much better offensive showing after that opening flop, and Golden is the most likely beneficiary if the passing game takes a step forward. Target share is one of the more predictive markers in DFS, and Golden already has it locked down heading into Week 2. This price still reflects last year’s expectations, not the role he’s already claimed this season.

Mack Hollins, WR

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $4,300

With A.J. Brown on IR with an ankle injury, New England’s passing game opens up in a real way, and Hollins is positioned to step into a bigger share of the targets against Pittsburgh. He won’t turn into a target hog overnight, but he doesn’t need to at this salary. If you’re tight on cap space after paying up elsewhere, Hollins gives you a path to real production without asking for much of your budget.

This is exactly the kind of value spot on the roster that lets you afford the Bijan Robinsons of the slate.

Dalton Schultz, TE

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $3,200

Schultz drew eight targets last week, and as of now, Nico Collins remains in doubt with a hamstring injury against the Bengals. If Collins sits, Houston’s passing game funnels even more work toward Schultz, who is already comfortable as a high-volume underneath option. Tight end is usually a thin position on DraftKings, and a player with this kind of target security at this price is exactly the type of roster flexibility you want.

Even if Collins plays, Schultz’s existing role makes him a fine value; if Collins sits, Schultz becomes one of the best plays at the position on the slate.

Dallas Goedert, TE

DraftKings Week 2 Salary: $4,800

Goedert is underpriced given what he already showed in Week 1: four catches, 77 yards, and two touchdowns. That’s a legitimate TE1 performance at a price that still treats him like a middling option.

Philadelphia’s passing game has real juice behind Hurts, and Goedert has established himself as a red-zone threat and a possession target. Prices like this on a player with his role and his early-season production don’t tend to stick around for long once the field notices. Getting him into a lineup now, before the salary catches up, is the kind of edge that’s worth taking.
