NFL DFS Picks
Week 4 of the NFL season is underway. Here are my DFS DraftKings picks for the main slate.
Quarterback
Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams – $7,000
Matthew Stafford faces off against the Arizona Cardinals at SoFi Stadium. This matchup will likely be high-scoring. Despite the Rams’ stout defense, Kyler Murray has been on a tear thus far. Last week, Stafford played one of the better defenses in Week 3 — the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Stafford threw for 343 yards, four touchdowns, zero interceptions on 27-for-38 completions.
He gets a Cardinals defense who has been playing well this season, but that defense has not faced an offense like the Rams. With all the options Stafford has — Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, DeSean Jackson, Van Jefferson, and Tyler Higbee, Stafford has plenty of playmakers to go to. Expect Stafford to put up big numbers in Week 4.
Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles – $6,900
Jalen Hurts will face off against a Chiefs defense that just got torched by Justin Herbert and the Chargers in Week 3. Hurts has thrown for 780 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions through three weeks. He has also run the ball 26 times for 179 yards and one touchdown.
This game could be a lopsided victory for the Chiefs or a close game. However, what matters here is that Hurts will have to make plays — whether that means passing or running the ball, he will have to have a big game for the Eagles to stay competitive.
Sam Darnold – Carolina Panthers – $6,000
Sam Darnold has thrown for 888 yards, three touchdowns, one interception on 73-for-107 completions. His price tag is cheap for the matchup he gets in Week 4 against the injury-rattled Dallas Cowboys defense. Christian McCaffrey will not play in this matchup, which could lead to Darnold often airing it out to D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson.
The Cowboys offense will put up points, meaning Darnold will need to keep up by racking up yardage and touchdowns. He is a low-risk, high-reward type of player for Week 4. If you don’t want to spend too much on a quarterback, Darnold is your guy for this week.
Running Backs
Alvin Kamara – New Orleans Saints – $8,400
Alvin Kamara has seen 52 carries for 177 yards, as well as 12 catches on 14 targets for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Kamara has been off to a slow start, but he gets a favorable matchup against the New York Giants. There aren’t many favorable matchups for top running backs in the main slate, so Kamara should be added to lineups.
Kamara seems due for a breakout game, and it could very well be this one. The Giants have been able to keep most games close, but if the Saints defense picks off Daniel Jones a couple of times, it will give Kamara an opportunity to see more carries and targets. He should be added into lineups in all formats.
David Montgomery – Chicago Bears – $5,800
David Montgomery has seen 46 carries this season for 203 yards and a touchdown. He’s also had six catches on nine targets for 49 yards. With Justin Fields running the show in Chicago, it’s unclear how involved Montgomery will be in the offense. Last week, he saw just ten carries, in comparison to Week 1 — 16 carries and Week 2 — 20 carries.
The workload is a little concerning, as Montgomery saw just 12 touches last week, but he has a much more favorable matchup this week against the Detroit Lions. Although his workload remains to be seen, due to his price tag, Montgomery is worth taking the risk on because of the matchup.
Darrell Henderson Jr. – Los Angeles Rams – $5,600
Darrell Henderson Jr. (ribs) is questionable for Week 4 after missing Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, after logging in a limited practice on Wednesday, head coach Sean McVay said there is an “expectation and anticipation” that Henderson will play against the Arizona Cardinals.
In what could be a high-scoring game, Henderson should be considered due to his price tag, the matchup, and because he is averaging 14.5 carries in the first two weeks of the season. He has averaged 16.5 points on DraftKings, and he could see 15+ carries in Week 4.
Wide Receivers
Cooper Kupp – Los Angeles Rams – $7,800
Cooper Kupp has arguably been the best wide receiver in the league through Week 3. Kupp has 25 receptions on 33 targets for 367 yards and five touchdowns. Matthew Stafford has targeted Kupp 11 times on average this season. That will likely continue in Week 4 when they face the Arizona Cardinals.
It’s obvious that Kupp is Stafford’s favorite target, and with two high-octaine offenses in a favorable matchup, Kupp should be added to lineups, despite his price tag. He has put up the best wide receiver numbers this season.
D.J. Moore – Carolina Panthers – $6,600
D.J. Moore will face an injury-rattled Dallas Cowboys defense in Week 4. With Christian McCaffrey out for this matchup, Sam Darnold will look to air it out early and often, in another potential high-scoring game. Moore has 22 receptions on 31 targets for 285 yards and one touchdown.
In a favorable matchup and potentially high-scoring game, Moore is a low-risk, high-reward type of player for Week 4. On average, Darnold has targeted Moore 10+ times per game, so Moore should be added confidently to DFS lineups.
Corey Davis – New York Jets – $5,000
Corey Davis has been in a slump lately, but in a matchup against his former team — the Tennessee Titans, Davis will want to have a big game. Davis is Zach Wilson’s best target, and Wilson will want to get him involved often in Week 3 to keep up with the Titans offense. Davis has 12 receptions on 22 targets for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Davis’ price tag makes him a great option for Week 4. As mentioned earlier, he has been in a slump the last two weeks, but this could very well be the game where he turns that around. He is another low-risk, high-reward type player this week.
Tight Ends
Logan Thomas – Washington Football Team – $4,900
Logan Thomas has been consistent thus far, despite the quarterback change — he has caught 12 receptions on 14 targets for 117 yards and two touchdowns. They will face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 4 which is a favorable matchup for Thomas.
Taylor Heinicke seems to be favoring Terry McLaurin, but Thomas is the go-to in the red zone. For his price tag, consistency, and favorable matchup, Thomas should be considered an add-on to lineups.
Noah Fant – Denver Broncos – $4,300
Noah Fant gets a great matchup in Week 4 against the Baltimore Ravens who rank 32nd against tight ends. Teddy Bridgewater has targeted Fant 17 times this season, and that number will likely go up with Jerry Jeudy still sidelined and K.J. Hamler out for the season.
Fant has 12 receptions for 110 yards, and one touchdown. Expect Fant to be involved more in the passing game Week 4, and to see more red-zone targets.
Dalton Schultz – Dallas Cowboys – $3,400
The Cowboys will face a stingy defense in the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. Schultz has seen 15 targets thus far. He’s had 14 receptions for 143 yards, and two touchdowns. With the defense focused on Amari Cooper and CeeDee Lamb, that could open the field up for Schultz to see more targets.
Schultz’s price is right for Week 4, as he could be Dak Prescott’s go-to target in the red-zone. Schultz should be considered a low-end TE1 this week.
Good luck in Week 4!
