Breece Hall to Miss 3 Weeks, Expected Back for Week 1?

New York Jets News: Breece Hall to Miss Time

New York Jets running back Breece Hall exited Monday’s practice with a groin injury and is now expected to miss two to three weeks, though head coach Aaron Glenn said the star running back remains on track to be ready for the start of the regular season.

Hall went down without contact after catching a pass from Geno Smith and stepping out of bounds near the goal line. “I don’t think it was a big deal, but I want to make sure I get the evaluation on that,” Glenn said after practice. Follow-up imaging confirmed the injury is minor, and the Jets plan to be cautious with their lead back rather than risk a setback. That timeline lines up well with the calendar, since New York’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans is still nearly a month away.

In the meantime, Braelon Allen is expected to step into a larger role. He already flashed in the preseason opener against Tampa Bay, scoring on a 31-yard touchdown run. Isaiah Davis, who filled in capably last season when Allen missed time with a knee injury, is himself currently sidelined, leaving the Jets thinner at the position than they’d like heading into a stretch of camp with real stakes for depth-chart battles.

Hall enters 2026 coming off his first career 1,000-yard rushing season, a performance that helped him land a three-year, $43.5 million contract extension this offseason, placing him among the better-paid backs in the league heading into this summer’s wave of even larger extensions at the position. With a retooled offense under new coordinator Frank Reich and Geno Smith settling in at quarterback, there’s real optimism that New York’s offense could take a step forward as a unit in 2026, which would only add to Hall’s fantasy value if he remains the focal point of the offense as expected.

Given the minor nature of the injury and the Week 1 timeline lining up well, Hall’s ADP shouldn’t move much as a result of this news. He remains an attractive value in the third round of fantasy drafts, giving managers a chance to secure a bell-cow-caliber back outside the top two rounds while other drafters prioritize wide receivers early.
