Saints Michael Thomas Still Not Ready For Offseason Workouts

Michael Thomas

Michael Thomas Injury Update

Saints 29-year-old WR Michael Thomas isn’t ready for offseason workouts yet, but he’s improving.

“I think he’s doing well in his rehab. He’s not ready yet, but he’s here, he’s rehabbing, getting himself better and we’re certainly anxious to get him out here,” head coach Dennis Allen said. Allen also said the plan is for Thomas to be ready for training camp this summer.

The Saints roster has a lot of familiar faces returning in 2022, but the vibe of the team is different. For starters, Dennis Allen, former Defensive coordinator (2015-2021) will be stepping up into the head coaching role after Sean Payton retired. Taysom Hill is still there, but the QB hybrid project has been put to rest and of course, Alvin Kamara is still the team’s top offensive weapon despite a potential 6-game suspension coming. Throw in Michael Thomas’ recovery from ankle surgery, and it seems there’s a side story to just about every star player on this roster.

Saints 2022 Sports Betting Odds

The Saints are a difficult team to get a read on this season. Sportsbooks have their win total at over/under 8.5 wins in 2022, despite winning nine games last year. With all the changes and potential loss to Kamara, it’s hard to feel confident about that bet. Mind you, the Saints have constantly overachieved against all pre-season sports betting odds.

Regardless of your betting predictions, you need to choose reliable companies before placing your bets. Just like with best online casinos, it’s better to check some reviews first. And when you know you’re safe, you can proceed with that bet on Saints.

New Rookie Duo

While Fantasy Football managers wait and see on Michael Thomas, two wide receivers that are flying under the radar are Jarvis Landry and first-round rookie Chris Olave. Both should make an impact immediately for the Saints in 2022.

Jarvis Landry signed with the Saints this offseason, providing a much-added depth to the team’s wide receiver room. The 29-year-old’s best season with the Browns came back in 2019 when he averaged 12.2 fantasy points per game in half-point scoring as the WR13. Landry will compete for his fair share of targets in an offense alongside what now appears like a sneaky good pass-catching corps. Landry could also make the list as a great mid-season sell the high player if and when Kamara is suspended for the first six games.

Chris Olave was selected by the New Orleans Saints 11th overall in the 2022 NFL Draft. The Saints moved up to acquire the speedster to pair him with Michael Thomas. Since 2019, Olave has established himself as one of college football’s most dangerous wide receivers. Olave finished his high-school career at Mission Hills High School near San Diego, where he landed a three-star prospect rating according to 247Sports following a senior season that included 93 catches for 1,764 yards and 26 touchdowns. He also ran track and field. After getting recruited by a number of West Coast schools including UCLA and USC, Olave chose to be a part of a large recruiting class at Ohio State.
