[the_ad id=”105842″]Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. caught seven passes for 58 yards and one touchdown in Sunday’s 38-24 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium. The 28-year-old bounced back from a quiet Week 6 performance in which he managed just two receptions.
Pittman’s touchdown came during the first half on a four-yard pass from quarterback Daniel Jones. The score was part of a balanced offensive attack that saw the Colts improve to 6-1 on the season. The veteran receiver has emerged as a consistent target for Jones through seven games. Pittman has hauled in 35 receptions for 351 yards and five touchdowns this season. His seven-catch performance Sunday represented his third game with at least seven receptions in 2025.
“He’s catching the ball and making plays for us,” head coach Shane Steichen said earlier this season about Pittman’s contributions. “That’s what we need from him.”
Pittman’s Week 6 outing against Arizona marked his lowest production of the season with two catches on three targets for 20 yards. The down game coincided with the return of wide receiver Alec Pierce from a two-game absence due to concussion protocol.
Sunday’s victory over Los Angeles featured a dominant rushing performance from running back Jonathan Taylor, who scored three touchdowns on 94 yards. The Colts’ defense forced two interceptions from Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and recorded multiple sacks.
Indianapolis will host the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 on October 26 at Lucas Oil Stadium. The matchup represents a favorable opportunity for Pittman, who caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown against Tennessee in their Week 3 meeting this season. The Titans rank 21st in the league in passing yards allowed per game.
The Colts then travel to Pittsburgh for a Week 9 contest against the Steelers on November 2. Both upcoming opponents present opportunities for Pittman to maintain his productivity as Indianapolis seeks to extend its strong start to the season.
Pittman signed a three-year contract extension worth $71.5 million with $46 million guaranteed in March 2024. The USC product was selected by Indianapolis in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft and has developed into the team’s primary receiving weapon.
Jones has connected well with Pittman through the first seven weeks of the season. The quarterback has distributed targets across multiple receivers, with Pittman leading the team in receiving touchdowns. Rookie tight end Tyler Warren has also emerged as a significant threat in the passing game.
Indianapolis enters its Week 8 home game against Tennessee as one of the NFL’s top teams. The Colts’ 6-1 record represents their best start since the 2009 season when they began 14-0 before finishing with a Super Bowl appearance.
