Kenneth Walker Fantasy Hype Train is Building Speed
Kansas City Chiefs running back Kenneth Walker continues to make a strong impression on his new teammates. Speaking to reporters for the first time since training camp began, Travis Kelce lit up when asked about Walker’s arrival.
“Ken Walker’s gonna be a hell of a ball player for us,” Kelce said. “He’s got every trait you could possibly want at the running back position, and on top of that, his mentality, how smart he is, his physicality, his aggression, and how he runs with the football and just plays the game. I can’t say enough about him as a teammate. We got an absolute superstar on and off the field in K9.”
Kelce isn’t alone in that assessment. Patrick Mahomes pointed directly to Walker when asked what excites him most about the 2026 season, a notable answer from a quarterback who has played alongside elite talent at nearly every position throughout his career. GM Brett Veach, who signed Walker to a three-year deal worth roughly $43 million this offseason, has also praised his complete skill set and football IQ, while Andy Reid called him “legit,” adding that “he can take it the distance every time he touches the ball.”
Walker arrives in Kansas City fresh off a standout 2025 season with the Seattle Seahawks that ended with a Super Bowl LX championship and MVP honors, capping a strong playoff stretch in which he was a driving force in Seattle’s run through the postseason. His regular-season production established him as one of the league’s more complete backs, someone capable of shouldering a full workload between the tackles while remaining a real factor in the passing game.
The Chiefs have Walker listed first on their unofficial depth chart, and his receiving chops have been on display throughout camp, giving Kansas City a different kind of weapon at the position than it has featured in recent seasons. Kelce’s comments are still teammate praise, delivered in the honeymoon period of a new signing, but they line up with everything the organization has said publicly about Walker since he arrived. Between the pedigree, the contract, and the early buzz from the locker room, Walker looks set for a significant role in Kansas City’s offense in 2026.
