Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice as the team prepares for Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. The illness bothering Jacobs is not expected to impact his availability for Sunday’s game, according to the team.

Jacobs battled through the same ailment last Sunday against Cincinnati, scoring two touchdowns in the Packers’ 27-18 win at Lambeau Field. He carried 18 times for 93 rushing yards while adding five receptions for 57 receiving yards despite feeling under the weather throughout the game.

“I really don’t know where it came from,” Jacobs said after the Bengals game. “I just kind of woke up this morning just not feeling my best. But I told ’em, the last time that I felt that way, I had 130 yards and two touchdowns. So it is what it is.”

The 27-year-old admitted he vomited before and during Sunday’s contest but never entertained sitting out. His toughness through physical adversity has been a defining characteristic since joining the Packers before the 2024 season.

The illness is a temporary setback for a running back who has hit his stride at precisely the right moment. Over his last two games, Jacobs has produced 307 yards from scrimmage and four rushing touchdowns on 49 touches. After a sluggish start to the season—limited to two combined touchdowns through Green Bay’s first three contests—Jacobs has transformed into a driving force in the Packers’ rushing attack.

Against Dallas in Week 4, Jacobs posted 157 total yards and two touchdowns before his dominant performance against Cincinnati. The consecutive performances have coincided with improved offensive line play and a more committed rushing approach from head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense.

Jacobs’ run game has been especially effective in the red zone. He holds the franchise record with 10 consecutive regular-season games with at least one touchdown. His production inside the opponent’s 20-yard line has been a hallmark of Green Bay’s offensive success.

The Packers’ medical staff listed him as day-to-day on Wednesday, suggesting the ailment should clear within a day or two. The four-day gap between Wednesday’s limited practice and Sunday’s kickoff provides adequate time for recovery. Jacobs’ ability to push through minor illnesses without missing game time has been evident throughout his NFL career.

Arizona’s rushing defense ranks 13th in the NFL in yards allowed per game. The Cardinals recently watched Indianapolis’s Jonathan Taylor rush for 123 yards on 21 carries, a matchup that demonstrates the vulnerability of Arizona’s run defense.

O’Connell has indicated he expects normal participation from Jacobs as the week progresses. The running back’s durability and professional approach to managing his body suggest Wednesday’s limited participation is purely precautionary rather than indicative of serious concern.

Fantasy managers should maintain Jacobs as a confident start against the Cardinals, assuming his health progresses as expected through Friday’s final injury report.
