Jaylin Noel Fantasy Value Just Got a Bump

Jaylin Noel Fantasy Impact

The Houston Texans got wide receiver Jaylin Noel back from his injuries this week in training camp, and the plan is to ramp him up gradually over the next couple of weeks, according to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Sports. Receivers coach Ben McDaniels expressed confidence in Noel’s conditioning despite the missed time, saying, “I expect him, when he hits the grass, to be ready to roll. He’s extremely diligent with his preparation and being ready to go when he’s going to be healthy.”

Noel’s fantasy stock jumped Wednesday after it was announced that fellow wideout Jayden Higgins suffered a season-ending torn ACL. The 23-year-old had missed practice time with a hamstring strain that followed an earlier right pinkie injury, and the hamstring issue is expected to sideline him for Houston’s next two preseason games as well. The Texans remain optimistic he’ll be ready for the regular-season opener against the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 13.

With Higgins out for the year and Christian Kirk, Houston’s primary slot receiver a year ago, now with the San Francisco 49ers, there’s a real opening in the passing game that fits Noel’s skill set. The third-round pick out of Iowa State appeared in all 17 games as a rookie, catching 26 of 35 targets for 292 yards and two touchdowns, production that came in a fairly limited role behind a crowded receiver room. He also contributed heavily on special teams, handling a big share of Houston’s kick and punt return duties.

It’s worth noting Noel’s rookie efficiency numbers weren’t especially strong when he was on the field, he averaged a modest 4.0 fantasy points per game on just a 6 percent target share while playing roughly a quarter of Houston’s offensive snaps. That said, he flashed real promise during a strong spring, building chemistry with C.J. Stroud and reportedly finding the end zone in team drills on a near-daily basis before his injuries interrupted that momentum.

Tank Dell, working his way back from a knee injury that kept him out for all of 2025, remains the other major variable in how Houston’s receiver snaps get divided the rest of the way. Between Dell’s recovery, Xavier Hutchinson’s continued role, and Noel’s own health, the picture behind Nico Collins is still very much unsettled.

Given the crowded competition and his own ongoing hamstring concern, Noel isn’t a lock to become an every-week fantasy factor. But the opportunity created by Higgins’ injury and Kirk’s departure is real, and a return to full health over the next few weeks would go a long way toward solidifying his path to a bigger role in 2026.
