Jay Cutler out for 6-8 Weeks
Another Starting QB bites the dust.
Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune reports that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will miss 6-8 weeks after he undergoes surgery on his right thumb. Much like the Texans, the Bears now need to plan for the remaining games without ruining their NFC Wild Card lead. Caleb Hanie will now get the start for the Bears who are 7-3 and have the following schedule ahead of them: at Oakland, vs. Kansas City, at Denver, vs. Seattle, at Green Bay, and at Minnesota.
Fantasy Factor: Those using Jay Cutler as their starting quarterback are not likely winning weeks with his 2011 performance alone. His loss really should not hurt the fantasy world that much. Now Matt Forte, that’s a different story. Forte is a massive part of the Bears offense. He makes just as much of an impact as a receiver as he does running the ball. This could be a major blow to one of the best PPR fantasy RB’s in the game. Hopefully the Bears don’t baby Caleb Hanie, otherwise defenders will zero in on Forte for every snap.
