Jacksonville fires Jack Del Rio, It’s About time
When you can’t beat the Texan’s with an unprepared 3rd string quarterback at home, you stink. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Del Rio has been fired. The Jaguars reportedly will announce the move at noon.
It’s looks for the time being, that Defensive coordinator Mel Tucker will be the Jaguars interim coach. In 9 seasons, Del Rio was 68-70 overall with two playoff appearances, which is clearly a lot more of a leeway than most coaches are given around the league.
Jack Del Rio has publicly blamed offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter twice in two weeks for decisions that went bad during Jacksonville losses, something that from an owner’s (and fan’s) perspective is cowardly and disrespectful.
The most memorable and confusing move that Jack Del Rio made in the last two years was his repeated quarterback juggling days before the NFL season began. This year he released David Garrad only after running with him as the started all preseason, he then handed the job to Luke McCown’s who lasted two weeks before handing the reins to 1st round rookie Blane Gabbert. The offense has been a mess all season.
