NFL Statistics
Five NFL weeks might not be enough sample size for any huge statistical takeaways; however, I have compiled a handful of interesting NFL stats worth reading. These stats came from FantasyData’s Advanced Metrics and Player Profilers data.
Baker Mayfield
81.8% Redzone Completion Percentage
Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield is coming off another strong performance during last week’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Mayfield threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns as the Bucs took a tough overtime loss. The former first-round pick has thrown 11 touchdowns with only two interceptions through the season’s first five games.
Jared Goff
73.8% Play-Action Completion Percentage
Goff and Mahomes (73.7%) are the top quarterbacks in the NFL after five weeks with the highest play-action completion perfection. Surprisingly, Aaron Rodgers ranks near the bottom with 30.3%.
Kirk Cousins
9 Interceptable Passes
FantasyData has an interesting advanced metric of passes that weren’t intercepted but easily could have been. There is a reason why some guys play defense, but with better hands, Cousins would have a lot more than five interceptions this year.
Daniel Jones
Giants WRs have 15 Drops
Daniel Jones takes a lot of heat as the quarterback for the Giants, as he should. However, the Giants have the 15 drops in the NFL after five weeks, that’s second worst behind the Browns, with 19.
Jones delivered a game-winning performance in Sunday’s 29-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks despite missing rookie sensation Malik Nabers and starting running back Devin Singletary. Jones completed 23 of 34 passes, throwing for 232 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions, averaging 7.6 yards per attempt. He also added 38 rushing yards, though he was sacked three times and didn’t find the end zone on the ground.
Sam Darnold
69.2% Deep Ball Completion Percentage
With the exception of Mason Rudolph, who has 1 completed deep pass, Sam Darnold leads the NFL with deep passing completion percentage. Some may argue that having Justin Jefferson makes life easy. However, C.J. Sroud has excellent pass catchers and only has a 30.1% deep shot passing completion.
Tank Bigsby
Averaging 8 yards per carry
Jaguars running back Tank Bigsby was great on the ground in a 37-34 win over the Indianapolis Colts last week. Bigsby finished with 103 yards on 13 carries and two rushing touchdowns. He also added a 28-yard catch. Bigsby outperformed his starting counterpart in the running game, who had just 17 yards on six carries.
Kyren Williams
Leads all RBs with 86.2% Snap Share
Remember when the fantasy industry was concerned about Kyren returning punts, or how much Blake Corum would eat into the workload?
Kyren Williams rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on 22 carries during Sunday’s Week 5 loss to the Green Bay Packers. He also caught a three-yard pass and lost a fumble in the contest. Williams currently owns an eight-game touchdown streak dating back to last season. During that span, he has found the end zone a total of 11 times. The 24-year-old continues to be one of the most reliable touchdown scorers in fantasy football, contributing RB1 value week after week. He should continue to be started in all fantasy leagues when he faces the Las Vegas Raiders on the other side of the Week 6 bye.
Saquon Barkley
90.4% Carries From Shotgun Formation
I found this interesting, as rumors were the Eagles were not going to over-commit to running out of the shotgun and have more running plays with Jalen Hurts under center. There are limitations to running out of the shotgun, but when it works, it works.
Saquan Barkley just MARCHED OFF on the Saints for a 65 Yard Touchdown Give him good blocking and he is a great RB. Give him this blocking and he can be legendary. @saquon pic.twitter.com/bOuuQdtkHD

James Conner
Leads all RBs with 35 Evaded Tackles
This is an interesting statistic. Player profiler has data on evaded tackles and juke rate. Conner ranks first for evaded tackles and 3rd in juke rate.
Despite facing what was expected to be his toughest matchup of the season, Conner had a solid performance last week, racking up 100 total yards from scrimmage and scoring a crucial two-point conversion against the San Francisco 49ers. The 29-year-old rushed 19 times for 86 yards and caught two of three targets for 14 yards in Sunday’s win.
Malik Nabers
135 Air Yards Per Game
Nabers was out last weekend and looks to be out again in week 6.
Last weekend, Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton led the Giant passing attack and should be expected to do so again on Sunday night against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both are high-upside flex options this weekend, as the Bengals have allowed the 18th-most points to opposing wideouts this season.
Diontae Johnson
10 Redzone Targets
No wide receiver has more redzone targets than Diontee Johnson after 5 NFL weeks. The Panthers WR is questionable for Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. Johnson was dealing with this same injury last weekend and was able to suit up which is a good sign for his status.
After eclipsing 20.0 PPR points during Weeks 3 and 4, Johnson took a step back last weekend as he caught only three passes for 23 yards. If Johnson is able to suit up he should be viewed as a WR3/flex option facing the Atlanta Falcons.
Allen Lazard
83.3% Contested Reception Percentage
Lazard has a knack for making the tough catch; he currently leads all WRs (minimum 3 rec) with contested receptions. This is not a fantasy-relevant statistic, but I found it interesting nonetheless.
