Fantasy Impact: Zach Ertz Traded to Cardinals

Zach Ertz

Zach Ertz Traded

The Philadelphia Eagles traded three-time Pro Bowl tight end, Zach Ertz, to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for CB Tay Gowan and a 2022 fifth-round draft pick on Friday.

Both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert are free agents at the end of the year, so it makes sense to unload Ertz for draft capital now before the NFL trade deadline or before he walks in free agency in season. Eagles GM Howie Roseman takes a lot of heat from the fanbase but getting a future draft pick for a veteran tight end when you have a younger replacement waiting in the wings is a no-brainer. There was no homework needed on this one. It was a good trade for the Eagles. Speaking of homework, check out Writing Papers Sucks for helpful reviews on tools and sites like PaperHelp. Fantasy Impact

Dallas Goedert Should see the biggest bump in the fantasy of the two players. The Eagles offense is already under fire from the public in which Nick Sirianni is being dubbed one-dimensional and not very creative. This is forcing Jalen Hurts to play catch-up in a lot of games which translates into garbage time.

It’s only been six games, but it’s already clear the Sirianni-Hurts marriage is going to be short-lived. If Hurts isn’t good enough as a passer to give the team an accurate read on Sirianni’s offense and if Sirianni’s offense isn’t tailored enough to Hurts’ skill set to allow for an accurate assessment of him as the quarterback of the future, the Eagles risk having no answers by the end of the season as mentioned by The Athletic.

Zach Ertz lands on the top team in the NFL at the moment. The 5-0 Cardinals have the best record in Football and despite being underdogs to the Browns this weekend, seem to have a soft cushion lead in the NFC West at the moment. Adding Ertz to a strong offensive team lead by QB Kyler Murray should add even more firepower. The Cardinals were missing that Tight End weapon and now add a smart seasoned veteran to a team looking to make a long playoff run.

In terms of fantasy downfall, I really don’t see any. Ertz isn’t taking anyone’s targets, he’ll simply be another option for Murray to throw to, potential extending drives and causing more headache for defenses. Fantasy owners shouldn’t overthink this one, the Ertz trade is great for everyone.
