Fantasy Football Bold Predictions Week 8

Bold Predictions Week 8

Bold PredictionsIs it hard to believe that we are already onto week eight and nearing the midway point of the season? Every fantasy football year seems to fly by in the blink of an eye. But one thing you need to remember in this fast-paced game is that you always need to adapt to change. While players begin to emerge, others start to fall, and others deal with injuries. Make sure you are finding those guys that are emerging and take advantage of fantasy owners that are stuck in the past. Let’s take a look at a few bold predictions with some new emerging players.

Ryan Tannehill Will Be a Top-5 QB

With the Marcus Mariota era finally behind us, in steps the former Miami Dolphin Ryan Tannehill to man the wheel. He had a solid showing last week throwing for 312 yards and two touchdowns with just six incompletions. He did have the one interception, but he did just enough to squeak by the struggling Chargers. This week, Tannehill gets the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this who has struggled against the pass. They’ve allowed 17 or more points in each of their last four games. Tannehill should be able to shred this defense and be a top-5 quarterback this week.

J.D McKissic Outscores Ty Johnson

Running Back

With Kerryon Johnson going down with a knee injury, the question all week has been, “who do I drop for Ty Johnson”. While Johnson is a worthy pickup, we’re overlooking someone else in that backfield. J.D. McKissic was someone that stood out more against the Vikings while filling in for Kerryon’s injury. He rushed only five times but gained 29 yards and also caught two passes for 31 yards. Johnson, who took the majority of the snaps after Kerryon went down, also rushed for 29 yards but with 10 carries. Volume may be king, but efficiency is key and if McKissic can be efficient, he’ll earn more snaps and could land him in the endzone which may be the only thing he needs to outscore Johnson.

Odell Beckham Jr. Scores Less Than Five Points

Wide Receiver

To say that Odell Beckham Jr. has been a disappointment this year would be an understatement. To be fair though, the entire Cleveland Browns offense has been a disappointment. You can bet that is going to carry into this week against the Patriots. Stephon Gilmore has been an extremely shutdown corner this year, and the chance that OBJ gets shadowed by him this week is likely. He may catch a couple passes this weekend, but don’t expect him to score even five points for your fantasy team.

Larry Fitzgerald Will Be a Top-10 WR

Wide Receiver

Larry Fitzgerald FantasyLarry Fitzgerald has quietly been having a really solid year for a 36-year-old. The first two weeks saw him go for over 100 yards, but the weeks prior have seen him dip in production. He’s still getting consistent receptions and Kyler Murray is still targeting him quite often. This week, Fitz and the Cardinals get the New Orleans Defense in the Superdome, which should mean a pass-heavy gameplan for the Cardinals offense. In previous weeks, receivers that play primarily in the slot like Cooper Kupp, Tyler Lockett, and Chris Godwin, have seen fantasy points as low as 17 and as high as 38. With Fitzgerald playing over 89% of his snaps from the slot according to The Quant Edge, there’s a good chance he’s a top-10 receiver this week.

Gerald Everett Has Another Good Game

Tight End

Gerald Everett has been quiet for the majority of his career. As of late, he’s been turning in on for the Rams offense. Over the last four weeks, Everett has 239 receiving yards and two touchdowns. What’s been consistent is his targets. He has seen 34 targets in those four weeks and has caught 18 of them. You would like to see the catch rate go up, but with volume comes opportunity. Everett’s put together a string of good games, and you can expect that to continue this week against a very bad Cinncinati Bengals team.
