Early Betting Super Bowl LX Odds
Has anyone recovered yet from what went down at Super Bowl LIX? We certainly haven’t.
The Kansas City Chiefs rocked up the Superdome in New Orleans as a narrow favorite to complete a historic three-peat. All that stood before them becoming history makers were the Philadelphia Eagles, a team with the best defense and rush attack in the league. Patrick Mahomes had a date with destiny, but what could have been a dream-fulfilling night turned into an absolute nightmare.
Philly mauled the mercurial quarterback from the outset and throughout, sacking him six times and forcing him to throw two interceptions. By halftime, opposite number Jalen Hurts had helped his side amass an insurmountable 24-0 lead, and that lead was pushed out to 36 points at the start of the fourth quarter. Ultimately, it was he and the Eagles that emerged as 40-22 victors in one of the most dominant Super Bowl victories in history, destroying the Chiefs’ Kingdom once and for all.
Now, however, attention turns to the future, and the bookies have already priced up their favorites for the Lombardi next season. Let’s take a look at who they are.
Philadelphia Eagles
The newly minted champions have been made the +550 favorite to retain their crown next season, but the big news coming out of the Linc is the rebuilding job required on defense throughout the offseason. Aaron Rose recently wrote for the popular Bodog News site that the road to repeat wouldn’t be easy for Philly, especially considering the fact that two of their defensive superstars, Zack Baun and Josh Sweat, both could leave via free agency, while coordinator Kellen Moore has also departed for the head coach job at the New Orleans Saints. It’s worth checking back in with Bodog News to see how that all pans out in the coming weeks and months.
While there are question marks defensively, the Eagles remain monsters on offense. Their fearsome attacking quartet of Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Davonta Smith, and A.J. Brown remains intact, and they provide perhaps the most fearsome attacking arsenal in the entire league.
Barkley, in particular, was the star of the show last season, rushing for well over 2,000 yards in a campaign that secured him Offensive Player of the Year honors. While he was quiet in the Super Bowl mauling of the Chiefs, he will be back next season and ready to dominate once again.
Kansas City Chiefs
Even though they were ransacked on the grandest stage of them all, the bookies haven’t yet written off the Kansas City Chiefs, making them the +600 second favorite. There can be no denying the Arrowhead outfit’s pedigree. They have reached at least the AFC Championship game in all seven of Patrick Mahomes’ seasons as a starter, winning five of them and turning three of the Big Game appearances into Lombardis. While they weren’t able to complete the history-making three-peat, there is no reason to think that they can’t bounce back next season.
Much was made of Mahomes delivering a disaster class in New Orleans, completing just six of 14 pass attempts for a paltry 33 yards and two interceptions in the first half that took the contest away from the Chiefs. However, much of that dismal display could have been attributed to an offensive line that simply could not hold off a relentless Eagles defense.
The former Texas Tech standout’s stats speak for themselves throughout his career, and he will be back in 2025. Expect to see KC in the playoffs once more, but the Lombardi may well remain out of reach.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens land as third-favorites with odds of +650, and much of this optimism centers around the development of Lamar Jackson. The former Louisville Cardinal has defied his critics to emerge as a superstar, and his passing game now supports his blistering ability on the ground. He won the MVP award in 2023 and finished runner-up to Josh Allen in 2024 in one of the closest battles in history.
The addition of Derrick Henry last summer took much of the pressure off Jackson’s ability to make big plays. The ex-Tennessee Titans man rushed for 1,921 yards last season, second only behind the Eagles’ Barkley and some 456 yards clear of third-place man Bijan Robinson. That heavyweight attacking duo shone in the regular season, but a familiar story unfolded in the playoffs.
The Ravens met the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the postseason and were narrowly favored to progress, primarily thanks to the two-pronged assault of Jackson and Henry compared to the solo Bill of Allen. However, it was the former University of Wyoming sensation that got the job done, taking advantage of three Baltimore turnovers to emerge victorious.
The Maryland outfit is certainly a contender again next season, there is no doubt. But they must find a way to stay calm under the postseason spotlight if they are to have any hope of lifting the Lombardi.
