Dynasty Sleepers… To The EXTREME!

I have been a professional wrestling fan since I was a kid, but in the mid to late 1990’s a wrestling company changed the way I would forever view wrestling. Extreme Championship Wrestling was something totally different than anything I had seen before. They had a little bit of everything to offer, from bloodbaths and violence to sound technical wrestling. Like pro wrestling, fantasy football has a wide-range of different pieces needed to form a winning puzzle. Your top picks are baby faces most will love. Your risky middle round picks can turn heel on you. Your late sleepers are like the guys who are willing to be tossed on a pile of thumbtacks in an extreme match, just to make the event and experience some facet of their dream.

They will give you the advantage in your fantasy football leagues and make it worth the “price of admission.” There is no better way to do that than to talk about some extreme dynasty sleepers. These are guys that nobody is really looking at, that may even be long-shots to make teams. In dynasty leagues, you have to be willing to take chances and gamble a bit to try and find diamonds in the rough for the future. Here are some guys to stash, or keep a close eye on throughout the summer and training camps.

RB Michael Cox:  Most didn’t talk much about Mike Cox during the draft process. The Giants have a good track record of drafting running backs, especially in later rounds (like Ahmad Bradshaw in 2007). Mike Cox is a solid player that just needs an opportunity. Right now he is, at best, third on the depth chart. David Wilson and Andre Brown have been impressive, but neither are without blemishes.

RB Dennis Johnson, Cierre Wood and Ray Graham: All three of these guys had pretty good college careers, but all went undrafted. Not only does it show that they have flaws, but it also shows the devaluation of running backs in the NFL. This is an obvious sign that the Texans have concerns about both Arian Foster and Ben Tate going forward. I think a minimum of two of these three guys will make the roster, or at least the practice squad.

RB Miguel Maysonet: Besides Trent Richardson, the running back depth chart is up for grabs. Maysonet, a dark-horse running back out of Stony Brook, went undrafted. He was signed by the Eagles as a UDFA, then was waived and signed by the Browns. He is a good all-around back and if opportunity knocks, he could answer with fantasy points.

WR Charles Johnson and Kevin Dorsey: Here we have a couple of big, fast receivers in a high-tempo offense with the best quarterback in the league. That’s a recipe for fantasy goodness! Odds are they will not get their shot in year one, unless there is an injury to one of the starters. James Jones is a free agent next year and that could be the time, or one of these two could step-up during the preseason.

QB Zac Dysert: Dysert will most likely be delegated as the third string quarterback for the Broncos. Don’t let that scare you away, because when the time comes for Peyton Manning to step aside, I fully expect Dysert to beat out Brock Osweiler. He has the all-around better game than Brock. If you have some roster space to play around with, you might look to stash him for the future.
