Welcome to Week 6 of the NFL season. The Philadelphia Eagles make the short travel to Met Life Stadium to meet the Jaxson Dart-led New York Giants. But first, let’s review last week’s mega surprise on the West, the overtime game that solidifies that Kyle Shanahan owns Sean McVay.

Thursday Night Showdown, Eagles @ New York Giants
The Eagles are a -7.5-point favorite (+105), the over/under is 39.5, and the Eagles are -425 on the moneyline. This game opened with a 42.5 over/under and has dropped steadily. The line has also dropped (depending on your favorite betting site), as it now stands with the Eagles a 6.5-point favorite.

Prop Bets
There are a couple of interesting prop bets that will help you choose your Showdown lineup.
Over 18.5 rushing attempts (-127)
Barkley had his lowest carries last week in their loss to the Denver Broncos (6). In his previous four games, he has carried 19, 18, 22, and 18 times. It also helps that the Giants’ defense has allowed the 10th most rushing yards before contact per carry (1.1) and the most rushing yards after contact per carry (4.5). They are also tied for eighth in rushing attempts allowed (with Philadelphia), allowing 28.4 per game, but in their last three games, teams have averaged 32.4 rushing attempts.
Under 196.5 passing yards (-114)
Hurts is averaging 177.8 passing yards per game. He is projected to accumulate 189.9 passing yards in this game. The Eagles simply aren’t passing; they rank 29th in pass attempts, averaging 30.8 team pass plays per game.
Over 0.5 interceptions (-147)
Dart threw two interceptions last week against the New Orleans Saints’ defense. The Eagles have three interceptions in five weeks, intercepting Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, and Baker Mayfield.
Over 175.5 passing yards (-115)
In his first start, Dart attempted 20 passes for 111 yards. Last week, he attempted 40 passes for 202 passing yards. The Eagles have surrendered an average of 232 passing yards in their last three games.

Game Script
The score and the Eagles’ 2025 history suggest that this will be a game that leans heavily on the run game, with the Eagles leaning heavily on Barkley. If (or when) the Giants fall behind early, Dart will be forced to rely on a passing game. Two obvious problems with that: 1) no Malik Nabers, and 2) playing against a Vic Fangio defense.
This could lead to an increased target share for Cam Skattebo (tied for team lead in targets last week with seven) and tight ends Theo Johnson (seven targets last week) and Daniel Bellinger, who led the team in receiving yards (52 last week with four targets and four receptions).
Skattebo will face competition in the run game as Tyrone Tracy is returning from a shoulder injury. His return coincides with Darius Slayton missing this game with a hamstring injury. This week’s injury report is minimal, though, especially compared to last week’s.

It Simply Is…
Barkley and Hurts are a must-have, but their salary is so costly that putting either in captain severely reduces options, and even having them on the slate is binding.
For the Giants (who it is quite confidently believed will be playing from behind), quarterback Dart is a must-have because not only do the Eagles have a 22% missed tackle rate on quarterback scrambles, but their 33% pressure rate and seven sacks are the fifth-fewest in the league. As for the peripheral players, last week, Bo Nix went 13 of 16 for 113 yards and a touchdown on short passes against the Eagles. On play action, he had 99 yards and a touchdown. That’s Dart’s wheelhouse, with running backs and tight ends gathering the most targets.
