Daily Fantasy Tips and Thoughts:

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel – Remember a few seasons back when Michael Vick started playing for the Eagles and was added by many owners who went on to championships? Well, I remember that and think we could see the same thing happen with Manziel. Sure, maybe he’s just going to be another Kaepernick, but I’ll take my chances with this former Heisman winner. I’ll also take his top check-down option with the finally-healthy Jordan Cameron. -Darren Collette

Donte Moncrief – The only question I have about Moncrief is playing time. That’s it. He’s been productive on limited snaps thus far, is playing ahead of Hakeem Nicks and Reggie Wayne is battling a torn triceps injury. The door is wide open for the electric rookie and the match-up against the Houston secondary is hardly terrifying. He’s the epitome of a boom-or-bust WR3, which I like in these sort of tourneys. #FEEDMONCRIEF -Heath Capps

Jeremy Hill – My team isn’t flashy by any means. Normally, I don’t use the super cheap quarterback strategy, yet I feel Derek Anderson could be a refreshing change of pace for Panthers fans. With the exception of the Saints game, Cam Newton has looked terrible as of late. Most of Newton’s fantasy production has come thanks to garbage time late in games. Anderson could surprise people this weekend.

My gem of the week is Bengals running back Jeremy Hill. After the coaching staff came forward and said they are done with the two-back system and that Hill was going to be the lead guy moving forward, I juggled my DraftKings team around immediately. At $4,300 daily dollars, I think Hill is one of the best valued players you can buy this weekend. -Mike Rigz

Marquess Wilson – Wilson has a huge opportunity as he steps into Chicago’s starting lineup for the injured Brandon Marshall. The second-year receiver from Washington State was generating a lot of training camp buzz before he suffered a broken collarbone in August. Since returning to the field in November, his numbers have been lackluster. However, after Marshall exited the game in Week 14, Wilson saw five second-half targets and drew two pass interference calls on the Cowboys. At the minimum price ($3,000) on DraftKings, Wilson is the ultimate upside value play this week. Against a New Orleans defense that ranks in the bottom-five in the NFL at defending the pass, his move to the starting lineup couldn’t come at a better time. -Jason Willan

Fred Jackson – I love the value of Fred Jackson this week, as his $5,200 price tag has him as the 15th running back. For the Bills to keep their faint playoff hopes alive, they’re going to want to keep the Packers potent attack on the sidelines. The only way to do that is to grind the block by feeding Jackson the ball at least 20 times. F-Jax will also remain a third-down option out of the backfield. -Jody Smith

Jeremy Maclin – After an expected slow week versus Richard Sherman, Maclin has seen a $700 price drop and is now the 18th priced receiver. In Maclin’s last outing against Dallas, he shred them for 108 yards on 8 catches. That was actually a game dominated by the Eagles run, so the result was with unfavorable game script for Maclin. This week’s game has a league high over/under of 55 points and a spread of only 3.5, indicating a shootout. The Eagles will probably be throwing the ball a lot, if not all of it. I expect Maclin, one of the league leaders in target share, to get at least match his production from Thanksgiving and likely add a touchdown or two. Maclin’s combination of low price, great match-up, high upside and low floor make him a must-play this week. -Sean Berenbaum

Kelvin Benjamin – In the games Derek Anderson has thrown a touchdown this year, (three out the four he’s played in) Kelvin Benjamin has scored a touchdown. I don’t see Benjamin missing a beat with Cam Newton out of the lineup. When Anderson started in Week 1, Benjamin totaled six catches on eight targets for 92 yards and a touchdown. He’s more than a serviceable option as my second wide receiver at $6,200. -Zach Greubel
