DraftKings NFL Picks Week 17

With most Fantasy Football season-long leagues crowning champions in week 16, you may be thirsty for some competition. Lucky for you there are options in daily fantasy with websites like DraftKings.

DraftKings NFL Picks Week 17

DraftKingsWeek 17 will have some prominent players resting but that just leaves you with more bargains to work with. We have several of those bargains listed here in this column. So if you’re looking to end 2017 with a bang, have a look at this week’s selections and win yourself some serious cash.

DraftKings Week 17 Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo ($6,700): While most teams are either playing out the season or have solidified a playoff spot, the 49ers, on the other hand, are looking to continue the magic carpet ride that is Jimmy Garoppolo. His presence has been infectious as the entire team is playing better. Just this past week against the Jaguars, despite having his lowest yards total since taking over the starting job, Garoppolo would throw for two scores while rushing for another. Next up for the 49ers is a Rams defense that is in the lower half of points allowed to the league. That being said though, the Rams have already said that they would be resting some of their starters which should help the 49ers cause. Of all the teams outside of playoff contention, the 49ers have the most to gain from a victory this week and I expect Garoppolo to play like it.

Patrick Mahomes ($4,700): With the Chiefs locked into a playoff spot, Andy Reid has decided to start his rookie signal caller in their season finale against the Broncos. While the Broncos tend to be a matchup problem, they have been inconsistent at times. One of the best examples of that would be Kirk Cousins putting together a top-five fantasy performance in week 16. While there isn’t much to base a rookie recommendation off of, for Mahomes personally, week 17 is a job interview of sorts. With a strong performance, the calls for Alex Smith’s spot will only get louder. If you’re going top heavy at other positions, Mahomes at just $4,700 is a nice bargain.

DraftKings Week 17 Running Backs

Dion LewisDion Lewis ($6,800): Investing in Dion Lewis last week paid off in a big way. The Patriots back took full advantage of Rex Burkhead’s absence as he would score 35.3 points in Draft Kings formats. This week will likely be another week for Lewis to take on a larger role with the offense as the Patriots welcome in the New York Jets. The Jets are allowing the fourteenth most points to the position and last week allowed 81 rushing yards and a touchdown to Melvin Gordon. With the extra work in which Lewis has received over the last two weeks, he has wound up with 233 total yards and three touchdowns scored. Lewis will once again be one of the more prominent Patriots this weekend.

Derrick Henry ($5,500): Opportunity has been often mentioned in this column this year and it is the exact reason why Derrick Henry has been selected in week 17. Henry’s backfield partner DeMarco Murray is dealing with a third-degree tear of his MCL and had missed practice on Thursday. The likelihood of Murray missing this game or being limited at best could lead to a large helping of carries for Henry. Their opponent this week is the Jaguars who for the most part, have been a tough matchup. Last week against the 49ers however, rookie Matt Breida and Carlos Hyde would combine for 128 rushing yards and two touchdowns. When Henry has received 10 or more carries this season he has averaged just over 75 rushing yards with three touchdowns. I like the upside of Henry in this one.

DraftKings Week 17 Wide Receivers

T.Y. HiltonT.Y. Hilton ($5,900): In what has been a year to forget for the Colts, in week 17 they will close out the season against the Houston Texans. Luckily for potential Hilton owners, the Texans are allowing the fifth most points to the position. Hilton himself needs just 48 receiving yards to make 2017 his fifth straight 1,000-yard season. On top of that, he has had just four games this season in which he has been targeted five times or less. So coming off of a season-high 12 targets, I like Jacoby Brissett to target Hilton heavily again this week. Even in a week in which teams are preparing to go home, the likelihood of opportunity is still key.

Mohamed Sanu ($5,400): While the NFC South will have a strong presence in Wild Card action next week, there is still a game to be played in week 17. For the Falcons, the final week of the season will see them welcome in their division rival in the Carolina Panthers. This is a Panthers team that is allowing the fourth most points to the position and will have their hands full with the Falcons passing threats. Last time these two teams played, Julio Jones would have 118 receiving yards while Sanu would score a touchdown. This week, Jones is questionable with both thumb and ankle injuries but is expected to give it a go. If Jones is limited in any way it will open the door for Sanu to garner a bunch of targets. Look for Sanu to have his seventh game this year with more than five receptions.

DraftKings Week 17 Tight End & DEF

Vernon Davis ($4,300): Last week I had selected Vernon Davis and was saved by a touchdown. This week, Vernon Davis is once again my pick at tight end due to his opponent. The Redskins will take on a Giants team that is allowing the most points to the position. Now, Davis was in this position already in 2017 when the Redskins took on the Giants on Thanksgiving night. Daily fantasy players were disappointed when Davis was unsuccessfully targeted just once. Times have changed since then as Davis has scored two touchdowns in his last three games, I like Davis to avenge his game on Thanksgiving and be one of the better tight ends in week 17.

Steelers ($3,900): This one is a short and sweet nomination. No one wants to be the team to lose to the Browns and that couldn’t be truer in the final week of the season. In week 1 of this season, the Steelers scored a season-high 18 Draft Kings points as they would record seven sacks and one interception. Expect more of the same in the season finale as the Browns don’t appear to be playing with all that much pride. Good luck this week and have yourself a safe and happy new year!
