DraftKings Quarterback Week 14

Derek Carr FantasyDerek Carr ($6,400): This week I’m betting large on the quarterback position and that starts with Derek Carr. This week the Oakland Raiders will play a spiraling Kansas City Chiefs that has lost four straight. For Carr owners, the hope will be that the Raiders signal caller can replicate his numbers from the first time he squared off with the Chiefs this season. Back in week 7 against the Chiefs, Carr would throw for 417 yards and three touchdowns. Needless to say, that performance would leave Carr with his highest scoring Draft Kings performance this year with 33.2 points. On top of already having success against their AFC West division rival, the Chiefs are allowing the seventh most points to the position. Michael Crabtree’s return from suspension will also be a welcomed addition and a Raiders stack in week 14 might not be the worst idea.

Philip Rivers ($6,800): While Russell Wilson is the quarterback grabbing a lot of the headlines for late-season heroics, Philip Rivers has been flying under the radar and on an absolute tear. In his last two games, Rivers has thrown for 778 yards and four touchdowns. With the Chargers headed to super-charger status, they will welcome in a Washington Redskins team that is allowing the seventeenth most points to the position. Over the Redskins last two games, the defense had allowed just 215 passing yards but if you look closer, those games came against a bewildered Giants team as well as a slumping and injured Dak Prescott. The last time the Redskins faced an offense as explosive as this was in week 11 when the Saints’ Drew Brees would throw for 385 and two touchdowns. Rivers and company will continue to deliver in week 14.

DraftKings Quarterback Week 14

Alfred MorrisAlfred Morris ($5,500): Last week against the Redskins, Alfred Morris would have his way against his former club as he rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. It was exactly what the struggling Cowboys offense needed and you can look for them to call on Morris yet again this week against the Giants. This is a Giants defense that has allowed 100 yards rushing or more in each of their last two games. While the 10 days in between games will do good for Dak Prescott and his injured hand, I think the weeks without Ezekiel Elliott have shown the Cowboys coaching staff that a running game is necessary. This may not be something that Prescott can do all on his own. Taking all of that into account and the fact that the Giants are in the top 10 in points allowed to the position, I like Morris to be one of the better returns on investment this week.

Samaje Perine ($5,600): With an unfortunate injury to running Chris Thompson, rookie Samaje Perine was left with a lot of carries at his disposal. Perine would respond in weeks 11 and 12 as he would take 47 carries and rush for 217 yards. Then came week 13 and between Perine being evaluated for a concussion and the game getting away from the Redskins, the rookie back managed just 12 carries for 38 yards. Next for the Redskins is a Chargers defense that is allowing the sixth most points to the position. That ranking is due in large part to the Chargers allowing 1,310 rushing yards which stand as the third most in the league. With the exception of LeSean McCoy in week 11, the Chargers haven’t had too major of an obstacle in front of them in the form of a running back. Perine is one of the more physical runners that they have seen recently and I think the stat line will work in Perine’s favor. The rookie back will be back in that 100-yard range this weekend.

DraftKings Wide Receiver Week 14

Michael CrabtreeMichael Crabtree ($6,700): The wide receiver portion of this week’s article is built on 49ers of the past and present as Michael Crabtree also makes the list. Given the fact that the Chiefs are allowing the second most points to the position, Crabtree was already considered a good option. Now you couple in the one-game suspension of cornerback Marcus Peters and the sky is the limit for the Raiders wideout. As if all of that isn’t enough, Amari Cooper’s availability is still up in the air as he has cleared concussion protocol but is still limited with an ankle injury. The former Texas Tech star is coming off of his one-game suspension and with the exception of the game in which he was ejected, Crabtree has put up 10 or more points in seven out of his nine games. Derek Carr will enjoy having one of his main targets back and you can expect Crabtree to be a top five receiver this week.

Trent Taylor ($3,300): As it was discussed on the FF Faceoff podcast, stacking some of these 49ers pass catchers isn’t a bad idea. The rookie wide receiver Trent Taylor is one of those good options to use in a stack. While suffering from the flu this past week, Taylor would catch all six of his targets for 92 yards. That performance would have him scoring 15.2 points in Draft Kings formats. You will not find that good of a return on your investment at such a low cost and as previously mentioned, he has a good matchup this week against the Texans. As Garoppolo continues to get more comfortable with his playbook and his teammates, Taylor will be a player that he leans on. Going forward, Taylor owners should expect five targets or more on a weekly basis. He will not cost just $3,300 forever.

DraftKings Tight End Week 14

Evan EngramEvan Engram ($6,000): This week the Giants will be playing in what is widely considered to be their Super Bowl. Ben McAdoo is out, Eli Manning is in, and the division rival who desperately needs to win are next on the schedule. With the wide receiver depth chart being what it is, Evan Engram has become one of the Giants top targets. He has been such a valued target in the offense that he has had only two games with less than six targets. Following a rough outing on Thanksgiving against the Redskins, Engram would respond with seven receptions for 99 yards and a score. While the Cowboys may not be a matchup dream for the Tight End, the Eli Manning factor will loom large in this contest.

Manning will play to prove that he still belongs and Engram will benefit greatly. Someone on this Giants staff has to produce, I like for it to be the tight end.

DraftKings Defense Week 14

Patriots ($3,300): The defending Super Bowl champions were uncharacteristically bad on defense early on. In their first five games this year, the Patriots defense would never put up more than six points on Draft Kings. However, the defense has been doing well in the second half of 2017 as they have put up 10 or more points in three out of their last four games. Next up for the Patriots is the Miami Dolphins whom they played just two weeks ago. As a matter of fact, that previous matchup against the Dolphins would wind up being the highest scoring game for the Patriots defense, as they put up 17 points in Draft Kings formats. It’s that time of year when the Patriots separate themselves from the rest and I like that to continue this week.
