Devin Singletary Fantasy Preview
While it may feel like Devin Singletary has been in the NFL forever, at least to me it does; he will be just 27 years old this September. Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 3rd round of the 2019 draft after three straight seasons of over 1,000 yards rushing at Florida Atlantic University, Devin Singletary has had a fairly successful career in the NFL thus far. In his rookie season, and this seems like ages ago, he beat out LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore, and TJ Yeldon for a prominent role in the Bills backfield. After that, he put up three straight seasons with over 1,000 combined rushing and receiving yards. Prior to last year, Singletary signed a one-year deal with Houston and ended up having the highest rushing total of his career, with 898 yards. This past offseason he inked a 3 year, $16.5 million deal with the New York Giants to hopefully become their starting RB now that Saquon Barkley has left town.
Latest Odds
Singletary is +50,000 to win Offensive Player of the Year. A $100 bet gets you 50K if it were to happen. Spoiler alert: it isn’t going to happen. However, betting on the Giant’s first-round pick, Malik Nabers to lead all rookies in receiving yards pays 4 to 1. That could easily happen. The Giants will be playing from behind a lot this season and will need to throw the ball. NFL Betting Sites have all sorts of odds and prop bets to dig into. Some are really good this time of year.

If you think about it, Devin Singletary is being treated as the 29th starting RB in the NFL right now. I know that’s not exactly true since David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs both go before this, but I don’t think I would say that Singletary is one of the worst starting RBs in the NFL right now. He is not in the best of situations, but he is reuniting with a coach under whom he has had success before as both Brian Daboll and Singletary were with the Bills a few years back. I’m not expecting a ton of production out of Singletary, nor am I particularly eyeballing him at the end of round 7 / beginning of round 8, but at some point he’s a value. A slip into round 9 or 10 and he would provide some solid depth to my RB stable.
Fantasy Insight and Value
Singletary is stepping into a situation that, on paper, looks quite tough. Saquon Barkley, a former #2 overall pick, has left the Giants for division rival Philadelphia. I can’t imagine Giants fans are pleased with this development. Additionally, this was one of the worst offensive lines in football in 2023. Now, a new line coach in Carmen Bricillo and some new additions at the guard position could make this line better, but it’s still one of the worst units in football.
However, Singletary has proven to be consistent wherever he has been (I’m including college too). He just keeps plugging along. His NFL per season career average is 810 rushing yards, 4 rushing TDs, 35 receptions, 233 receiving yards, and .8 receiving TDs, and those were on teams in which passing was the priority. While that could still be the case in New York, in standard scoring that equates to roughly 133 fantasy points on the season. That’s achievable for Devin Singletary. While he isn’t going to blow the doors off with fantasy production, there are higher risks you could take around his ADP. Singletary could prove useful during bye weeks or against teams who are particularly bad at stopping the run. Plus, he gives you depth at a position without much in fantasy.
Dynasty Value
Well, hopefully you have Singletary on your teams already, but even if you do, he probably hasn’t been the secret sauce that makes you competitive every year. This RB has a 3 year deal with New York that could make him the RB1 here for a few years, but that’s likely it. After 3 years Devin Singletary will be hitting the age of 30, and a decline should likely be expected. If you are just starting out your dynasty leagues, I would think that Singletary’s ADP should be even lower than the 83 at which he is going in redraft.
Bold Prediction
It’s probably not that bold, but Devin Singletary will be the clear RB1 for the Giants. He will eclipse his 4 TD average and hit the 850 rushing yard mark.
