Deebo Samuel Traded To Commanders
The San Francisco 49ers have traded wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday night.
A fifth-round pick may seem like a massive bargain; however, sources told Schefter that part of the trade agreement is that the Commanders are taking on the remainder of Samuel’s contract and paying his full $17.55 million salary for the 2025 season.
San Francisco will absorb a $31,550,012 dead money hit on this year’s salary cap. Samuel, who has one year remaining on his contract, will count $17.5 million on Washington’s salary cap. The Commanders may extend his deal.
The Commanders have now added another weapon for young quarterback Jayden Daniels, adding a former All-Pro receiver.

Deebo Samuel has only had one season in which he had over 1,000 receiving yards. His value comes as an all-round athletic weapon where he can be used in a number of ways, including running the ball and blocking. Samuel, was arguably underused as a 49er and could have a potential big season playing for the Commanders.
