Chiefs WR Rashee Rice Placed on IR
WR Rashee Rice’s injury was first reported that he would miss the next four games after the Kansas City Chiefs placed him on injured reserve. However, reports are that he will now likely miss the 2024 season.
Rice sustained a knee injury last week when quarterback Patrick Mahomes collided with his knee as Rice, Mahomes, and other players were chasing a Los Angeles Chargers fumble that followed an interception. Chiefs coach Andy Reid previously ruled Rice out of Monday night’s game against the New Orleans Saints.
Reid stated that Kansas City won’t learn more about the severity of the injury until the following week. Rice was waiting for the swelling in his damaged knee before undergoing additional testing.

“Rashee’s had a phenomenal year. Unfortunately, in this league injuries happen, and life goes on, so we always expected the next guys to step up and roll, and it’s no different now. There’s not another Rashee. There [are] other guys, though, that are very, very good, so we’ll be fine.”
Rashee Rice leads the Chiefs with 24 receptions and 288 yards receiving in four games this season. He’s also tied for the team lead with two touchdown receptions.
NFL Odds
The odds have not shifted in any way since the news broke. The 4-0 Chiefs are still front-runners in several NFL Odds and futures. Patrick Mahomes has done this before. He’s lost talent around him and still found ways to score points. Andy Reid and his coaching staff are amazing at booking the right players on the field to succeed.
Currently the Chiefs are the heavy favorite to win Super Bowl LIX at +500. Their season win total odds also haven’t budged as the team is still expected to win Over/Under 12.5 wins (-170)
Davante Adams Trade?
The Athletic and Sports Illustrated have reported that Adams will likely be dealt to the Jets. The former outlet reported that the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs could get involved if Las Vegas eats some of the remaining money on Adams’ five-year, $140 million deal ($65.7 million guaranteed); Adams is in the third season of that deal.
Personally, I don’t see the Chiefs making this deal. Adams has a large contract and the cost in the form of picks or players wouldn’t be worth it. How quickly we forget the Chiefs won a Super Bowl the year they traded away Mahomes’ favorite target, Tyreek Hill. If anything, I would think the team tries to make a deal to replace Isiah Pacheco. The star running back is a vital part of the Chiefs’ success. He keeps defenses honest by not allowing opponents to all-out defend the pass. The running game is an underrated aspect of the Chiefs’ success.
