[the_ad id=”105842″]Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb was spotted doing rehabilitation work on Wednesday without a walking boot as he continues recovering from a high ankle sprain. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters that Lamb is making good progress. Still, the team will assess the situation over the week before deciding on his availability.
The coach said there are no plans to place Lamb on injured reserve.
Lamb suffered the ankle injury in the first quarter of Dallas’ Week 3 loss to Chicago when he lined up as a running back and was tackled awkwardly. He attempted to return early in the second quarter but was visibly uncomfortable and did not record a reception before being ruled out.
The four-time Pro Bowl receiver sat out last week’s game against Green Bay. The Cowboys played to a 40-40 tie with the Packers in that contest after trading scores throughout regulation and overtime.
George Pickens stepped into the primary receiving role in Lamb’s absence. The former Steelers receiver caught eight of 11 targets for 134 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay. Pickens joined the Cowboys in May after Dallas sent a 2026 third-round pick and 2027 fifth-rounder to Pittsburgh.
Jalen Tolbert also contributed with four catches for 61 yards in the tie. Tight end Jake Ferguson added seven receptions for 40 yards and a score.
Lamb opened the season with consecutive 100-yard receiving performances before the injury. He caught seven passes for 110 yards in Week 1 and nine for 112 yards in Week 2.
The Cowboys are 1-2-1 through four games. They defeated the New York Giants 40-37 in overtime in Week 2 for their only victory.
High ankle sprains typically require three to six weeks of recovery time. Lamb has missed just three games in his five-year career. He sat out one game in 2021 due to a concussion and two games last year with a shoulder injury after Dallas was eliminated from playoff contention.
Dallas travels to face the Jets on Sunday.
