Kyren Williams remains the primary running back for the Los Angeles Rams after Week 2, but Blake Corum showed signs of earning a larger share of rushing opportunities. Williams and Corum both contributed to the Rams’ 33-19 win over the Tennessee Titans. Jarquez Hunter remains in a depth role.

In that game, Williams carried the ball 17 times for 66 yards. Corum had five carries for 44 yards and scored a touchdown. Williams played about two-thirds of the offensive snaps at running back. Corum’s snap share rose to roughly one-third.

The increase in Corum’s workload followed his minimal usage in Week 1. In the opener, Williams took nearly all the carries. Corum’s touches were few and limited. The shift in Week 2 suggests the coaching staff plans to use Corum more often. Head coach Sean McVay praised Corum after the Titans game. He called Corum “explosive” and indicated the team intends to involve him more.

Williams still leads in snaps, touches, and overall production. He remains dominant between the tackles and in short yardage. Corum’s performance in Week 2 showed big-play potential. His average per carry was high. He broke off a long run and scored.

Jarquez Hunter saw limited action. He is present on the roster and part of the rotation, but has not made a large impact. Williams’ role remains secure for now. Corum’s rise brings competition and depth.

The Rams face a more challenging test in Week 3. They are scheduled to play the Philadelphia Eagles. Philadelphia’s defense has been strong early in the season, especially against the run. Running backs in that matchup will need clean lanes and good blocking. The performance of Williams and Corum will be under scrutiny.

Offensive line play will matter more. Williams’ ability to sustain his carries will depend on gap integrity and blocking. Corum’s success may hinge on fresh legs late in games and creative usage. Tennessee allowed significant rushing yards to opposition backs, which Rams running backs exploited.

Williams has contracts and job expectations of a lead back. The team invested in his role in the offseason. Corum, a 2024 draft pick, is building trust. The dynamic suggests a more balanced backfield may emerge.
