Fantasy Football World Gets Flipped Upside Down
For any fantasy owners who lost a close match-up in week five after starting Ben Roethlisberger…you may be in for a pleasant surprise.
The Elias Sports Bureau, official statistician of the National Football League has issued a stats correction on Wednesday. This change awards a 13-yard touchdown pass to Ben Roethlisberger on what had been a touchdown rush for Rashard Mendenhall in Sunday’s game versus the Eagles. The pass had originally been ruled a lateral but after further review, the results have named it an official pass attempt.
This may not seem like a major change, but for those starting, or playing against Ben Roethlisberger, this could mean the difference between a win or loss. Personally, the change will help my fantasy rankings I submitted to Fantasypros.com. I had Big Ben ranked quite high, the additional boost should help my accuracy score.
As per ESPN league rules, “The deadline for all weekly scoring or stat corrections made by the system is the Saturday following the week of the game in question, during the season. Any changes entered in the system will automatically reflect in both your box score and your standing’s pages.” This scoring change will be processed Thursday morning in all ESPN leagues.
My advice would be to inform your fantasy football Commissioner, and maybe let everyone in your league know that a possible shakeup to the standings could change.
WHOA. Elias changing Mendenhall’s 13 yd TD run to 13 yd Rec TD. Big Ben now gets a 13 yard Pass TD last Sun. ESPN will update scores tom.
