Eddie Lacy Injured
Pro football fans hoping to see former Alabama running back Eddie Lacy go through a full workout and drills will have to wait until March 13th. Reportedly, Lacy tweaked a hamstring while working out last week and will choose to rest in an effort to be fully healthy for Alabama’s Pro Day.
Lacy, along with North Carolina’s Giovani Bernard, is considered one of the top two running back prospects in this year’s draft class. Noted NFL Network draft guru Mike Mayock has Lacy as his top rusher and rated him as the only potential first round selection in this draft class.
Known as a punishing runner who has drawn favorable comparisons to former NFL great Jamal Lewis, Lacy is still hoping to follow in the footsteps of former teammates Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson as Crimson Tide first round NFL running back draft picks.
An MRI exam showed that Lacy suffered a small tear of the tissue surrounding his hamstring and was advised by doctors to sit out this week’s workout. The hope is that a strong rehab will see Lacy healthy enough to fully participate with his classmates at Bama’s March 13th Pro Day.
Fantasy Focus:
It’s way too early to overreact, but the injury doesn’t seem to serious. While it will be disappointing to not see Lacy perform with the other backs at the Underwear Olympics, we see no reason to think that this setback will affect his draft stock.
