ESPN Fantasy Football Convention

ESPN Fantasy Football Convention Recap

Last Saturday I was able to attend the ESPN Fantasy Football Convention in Chicago.
This was my second year attending the convention and I must say it is quite the spectacle. To see the ESPN guests and on air personalities was great, but the sheer number of people that attended was impressive. There were close to 900 people in attendance this year, and according to the sign in estimates almost 200 were women. To have almost 25% women was very surprising. It just goes to show how popular fantasy football has become. By all accounts from the people at ESPN, that makes Chicago one of, if not the largest fantasy football conventions in the country.

Bears Hit The Honey Pot With New WR’s

In the Bears division alone, the Packers and Lions have evolved into teams with very potent passing attacks. The Bears had no choice but to finally give into the times, and get Jay Cutler some legitimate weapons to throw to. By signing Brandon Marshall and drafting Alshon Jeffrey the Bears actually have WRs worth drafting in a fantasy league this year. No longer will Cutler have to rely on Matt Forte as his leading WR and RB. The Bears offense could actually be well balanced and very dangerous. Having Forte and Bush in the backfield with a mix of Marshall, Jeffrey, Hester, and Bennett for a wide receiving core, the Bears have more talent on offense this year than they have had in years.
