WR Fantasy Player Rankings Week 2
WR Fantasy Player Rankings Week 2
Coming off an extended lockout, many pigskin analysts felt that the advantages would lie with the defenses. Scratch that theory. A full 13 pass-catchers managed to hit the century mark in the NFL’s opening week. Interestingly, four non-receivers sit atop the NFL’s receptions leader board, but that won’t hold up for long. Look for these wide-outs to continue the passing game’s assault on the record books for this week.
- Andre Johnson @MIA- Football’s top wide-out tops out list for this week. The Miami secondary got banged up last week and surrendered over 500 passing yards
- Calvin Johnson vs. KCC- Recently showed up on the injury report, but it’s not a concern. Megatron won’t be stopped by a now severely weakened Kansas City pass defense
- Mike Wallace vs. SEA- The Steelers are going to be steaming after their humiliating week one loss to the Ravens.
- Greg Jennings @ CAR- The Panthers did a nice job on Larry Fitzgerald, but still surrendered over 300 passing yards. They won’t do as good of a job of keeping Jennings under wraps
- Miles Austin @ SF- With Dez Bryant’s status still up in the air, Austin will command the majority of Tony Romo’s red zone attention
- Vincent Jackson @NEP- The New England secondary looked awful against a sub-par passing offense. Now an elite offense led by VJAX and Philip Rivers will get their chance
- Larry Fitzgerald @WAS- Washington’s secondary gave up over 120 yards to Hakeem Nicks last week, so Fitzgerald will be the main focus for the Cardinals offense
- DeSean Jackson @ATL- Jackson is a hit or miss play, but should be able to get past the Falcon’s secondary on the Georgia Dome’s fast track
- Santana Moss vs. ARZ- The woeful Cardinal’s secondary gave up over 420 passing yards to a rookie who wasn’t expected to make a huge impact through the air. Moss is a similar player to Steve Smith
- Hakeem Nicks vs. STL *- This is always a tough call to make. Nicks says he’ll play, but he’s likely a game-time decision. If he plays he’s going to put up very good stats. Start with caution
- Roddy White vs. PHI- Why so low? Roddy draws the very tough Nnamdi Asomugha assignment this week.
- Kenny Britt vs. BAL- Britt had a huge game 1 and now gets to face a still inexperienced and young Ravens secondary
- Brandon Marshall vs. HOU- The jury is still out on the new look Texans secondary. Look for Marshall to get one into the end zone this week
- Mario Manningham vs. STL- Bump him up five of six spots if news breaks that Hakeem Nicks will not play
- Anquan Boldin vs. TEN- Looked good last week as the featured receiver. Scored a red zone touchdown and had another called off due to penalty
- Steve Johnson vs. OAK
- Dwayne Bowe @DET
- Wes Welker vs. SDC
- Mike Williams @MIN
- Reggie Wayne vs. CLE
- Percy Harvin vs. TBB
- Brandon Lloyd vs. CIN * (another injury status to keep up to date with)
- Steve Smith vs. GB
- Plaxico Burress vs. JAX
- Jeremy Maclin @ATL
- Jordy Nelson @CAR
- Braylon Edwards vs. DAL
- Robert Meachem vs. CHI
- Dez Bryant @SF *- Another cautious play. Bryant is ailing and seems like a good bet to be limited. Still, he’s too much for the Niners secondary to handle (UPDATED RANKINGS- it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Bryant will be able to suit up. Even if he does, he’ll be limited. Look for better options)
- Santonio Homes vs. JAX * (check injury report. If he is good to go move him up)
- Nate Burleson vs. KCC
- Lee Evans vs. TEN *
- Antonio Brown vs. SEA
- Johnny Knox @NOS
- Brandon Gibson vs. NYG
- Julio Jones vs. PHI
- Jacoby Jones @MIA
- Nate Washington vs. BAL
- Lance Moore vs. CHI * (if he starts bump him up about 10-15 spots)
- Deion Branch
