Worst Two Minute Drive Ever
Worst Two Minute Drive Ever
After dominating all night with the ground game, the Miami Dolphins found themselves late in the fourth quarter with a little over three minutes and two time outs to lead a winning drive. Peyton Manning barely broke a sweat moving up and down the field scoring at will, but after dissecting the defense at the line of scrimmage hitting Pierre Garcon for a 48 yard score, it had seemed like he almost left too much time on the clock.
Bad clock management is an understatement as Pennington looked like he had no idea what to do with the offense – it was sad. There was one shot into the end zone (that wasn’t picked off) but aside from that, running plays and a QB sneak were called on their two minute drive that was almost laughable. At one point the Dolphins let the play clock run all the way down to 1 second before calling a timeout, it was almost like they thought they had the lead.
This game was the greatest example of how the Wildcat offense is nothing more than a gimmick. When the game was on the line, the Dolphins needed the bread and butter pro style offense, not a bunch of trick running plays.
