Week 5 Fantasy Projections: Jaguars vs. Bills

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Buffalo Bills

The biggest intrigue of this game: Can the Bills get their first win of the year? The Jaguars, fresh off their own first victory of the season, a last second win against the Colts, bring the NFL’s worst pass defense into Buffalo. The Bills aren’t without their own defensive problems. They have the league’s worst run D.  Can the Bills exploit that weakness to get that elusive first victory?

This is the first game for the Bills since trading Marshawn Lynch to Seattle. Fred Jackson will start at tailback, and should see the majority of carries. He should be spelled on passing downs by C.J. Spiller, who could see 10-15 touches per game, including as the kick returner. Ryan Fitzpatrick is much better at getting the ball downfield that Trent Edwards was. That’s exactly how you beat the Jaguars: challenging the weak secondary. Lee Evans could be primed to have his first meaningful numbers of 2010.

Jacksonville finally remembered they have an elite running back last week. Maurice Jones-Drew had a huge game against Indianapolis. Following the momentum of last week’s big win, and matched up with

a defense that’s allowing over 170 yards per game, and 7 touchdowns on the ground so far in 2010. Look for a big game from MJD. Quarterback David Garrard is generally very good at avoiding turnovers. Against the Bills, expect lots of hand offs, and fewer passes. Don’t expect big numbers from any of the Jags receivers.
