Vince Young 2010 Bye Week Replacement Sleeper

VY 2010 Bye Week Replacement Sleeper

Vince Young is never going to tear up the league throwing the ball. He won’t ever be a QB you say you have to draft in your fantasy league. But, VY is a better option than you may think.

Vince had better passing yards per game average last year than any other year in his career. And even without being a great gun-slinger, Vince will give you added bonus points with his rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. VY was also able to cut down on his turnovers.  VY was also able to cut down on his turnovers. For the first time in his young career he had more touchdowns throwing, than he did interceptions. The former Long Horn has a tendency to put the ball on the ground often. He doesn’t lose a lot of his fumbles, but since he fumbles a lot there is always the risk of a turnover.

This true dual threat QB does do one thing great though: WIN. His best attribute is winning football games (unfortunately that doesn’t help you fantasy owners). And while, no one is likely to make Vince their weekly fantasy starter, a bye week replacement does offer an underrated option for fantasy owners this year.

Between weeks 4 through 10 the Titans face some tough competition. But you have to figure that the better the defense, the more likely Young is going to be involved in the game. With Chris Johnson making fools out of poor rushing defenses, VY’s fantasy job is as important as a holder for a kicker, simply giving the ball to Chris Johnson will wreck any week you plan on having to play VY. But against strong defense like Dallas in week 5, Philadelphia week 7 and Miami in week 10, you should except to see less easy 60 yard rushes from the RB, and more balanced attacks that involve the QB.

So what QB’s are on a bye in weeks 5, 7 and 10? How about: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Drew Brees.

In week 5, the Cowboys game is on the road, which is a great day for VY to pick some rushing yards in the dome, plus should be a great back and forth contest. In week 7 the Eagles come to visit right before they go on a bye, which is known by some as a trap game, many players are already thinking about the much needed week off. Finally the Dolphins game is off a Titans bye week, players will be rested while the Dolphins will be battered and bruised from just playing the Ravens.

Overall, it would be wise to pick up another QB in the draft. With how much Young runs with the ball, he is always just one big hit away from being hurt again. Young’s inconsistent play should lead you to not be targeting him before the draft. Even if you are a huge fan of this QB, he shouldn’t be who you want as your only fantasy backup. But in you are in a keeper league and have one of the top quarterbacks listed above, a late round Vince Young selection could make an easy bye week replacement.
