Top 10 Fantasy Wide Receiver Rankings
Tags: Anquan Boldin, Brandon Marshall, Calvin Johnson, Greg Jennings, Larry Fitzgerald, Roddy White
Gridiron Experts continues to showcase our top ten lists, this time with the wide receivers. While there were more opinions with the Top 10 Fantasy Quarterback Rankings we do see the same handful of names in everyone’s receiver lists, but the interesting part is where they were ranked.

Mike Rodriguez: Calvin Johnson- Number two on my board will shock and awe a few readers, but it really shouldn’t. I looked at the most talented players, and then listed them based on their current age and surrounding talent. Sure Calvin Johnson’s on the Lions, but that’s a good thing in my opinion. Detroit has a very young, yet talented core on offense. The Lions will never be in a comfortable lead in 2010, so offense will be their best defense. I expect a return of his 2008 season’s worth in fantasy numbers.
DC: Anquan Boldin- I have a good feeling about Boldin in Baltimore. The Ravens have been desperate for a number one receiver, and Boldin has been wanting out of Arizona for some time now. Together the combination will be monstrous for the Ravens offense. With a powerful run game, opponents can no longer cheat up into the box to stuff the run. The play-action-pass or a straight up go-route will now be in heavy rotation in the play calling, so expect a different looking formula each week for the Ravens. Boldin is fearless across the middle and a magnet in the redzone. Flacco is very underrated and has a great arm, the transition should be wicked.
Diesel: Reggie Wayne- The Colts are always going to be putting up points. Wayne could be the safest pick on anybodies board, and Peyton Manning is a coach amongst players. Wayne has made at least 82 catches the last 5 years and has not dipped under 1000 yards receiving the last 6 years.
Matty The Bulldog: Roddy White- Boom or Bust is usually the case for this vertical threat. White will lead the league one week and make only one catch the next. But with 3 consecutive years with over 1100 yards receiving, and the added experience from QB Matt Ryan, there will be no ignoring the fact that Roddy is the man in 2010. Big plays are the name of the game, and with rumors of Matt Ryan’s long ball reaching even further from hibernation in the weight room, the highlight reel should have White’s name written all over it.

Ben Hoyt: Chad Ochocinco‘s fantasy value rose when the Bengals signed Terrell Owens. Now Carson Palmer will have a easier time getting the ball to Ochocinco, because Owens will take some pressure off of #85 and the numbers will be much better this season.
Christopher Gabel-Larry Fitzgerald is an amazing wide receiver talent that is stuck in Arizona after the departure of Kurt Warner. He’ll still play well, being the star player on the offense, but Matt Leinart isn’t the same Matt Leinart that dominated at USC, he’s just an average NFL QB… until he proves otherwise.
Chris Hall: Brandon Marshall- Caught 101 passes in 14 games with Kyle Orton throwing to him in 2009. The wildcat isn’t going to help him but it won’t hurt that much, either. And given my assessment of Chad Henne, I came close to putting him at #1, but Johnson is going to hold that spot for the foreseeable future. To be honest, my opinion in general might be a little too high of the Dolphins heading into 2010, but if they fail to meet my unattainable expectations it certainly won’t be because of Brandon Marshall.
Jody Smith: Greg Jennings- Bounce back candidate. Jennings is way too talented to put up his sub-par 2009 numbers again. With Donald Driver declining, look for Jennings to get more red zone looks, and to capitalize in a big way.
