By the time I took the first draft on this article and actually started filling in the information below we had gone from no deal done, to the owners voting on a new CBA, to the players being expected to vote momentarily.

By the time you read this, some of the players listed below Could already have their future’s clear. But the fact is a fantasy owner shouldn’t be afraid to take chances in the later rounds on some players. The following few players are the guys who *COULD* find themselves in a great situation with talent around them. They could even be world-beaters who go to the playoffs, pro bowl, and accumulate other accolades.

For now … they’re stuck in Fantasy Limbo.

1. Kevin Kolb

The guy who was “The next” quarterback solution in Philadelphia was anointed the starter last season. In fact, there was enough trust in Kolb for the Eagles to trade away franchise quarterback Donovan McNabb. However, insert Mike Vick, after a Clay Matthews induced concussion, and Kolb is a franchise quarterback without a team.

Verdict: He will probably be traded to a team with a decent amount of pieces looking to climb up the ladder. However, he will be expensive! Rumors have had him going for a first rounder plus more.

Destination: Look for him to wind up in the NFC West, as Seattle, Arizona, and even San Francisco could execute a deal for a young franchise quarterback. Kolb is only 26, and in reality he could wind up with any QB needy team. We’ve heard the “Kolb to Arizona” rumors for months and there could be a quick deal done.

2. Carson Palmer

Palmer’s situation is unique. He has the ability, he has the confidence around him, and he even has the franchise to play for. He’s still under contract for now, but this is a battle of a quarterback who is fed up with what’s around him. The problem is, the team owner (Mike Brown) doesn’t want to kick a great quarterback to the curb. These two could continue the standoff, but something might get done soon.

Verdict: Mike Brown never gives in to players as he wants to maintain his hard-nosed image. But every minute that passes leaves other teams less likely to trade for a quarterback. If Mike Brown wants to get rid of Carson at all, he will try to pull the trigger early to maximize his return.

Destination: While Carson’s most likely destination is Cincinnati for the season, don’t be surprised to see him go to Minnesota (he’s a better option than McNabb is). He could also wind up in Seattle where Pete Carroll could provide the perfect environment of young receivers, a strong offensive line, and the USC connection.

3. Kyle Orton

When you hear the name Kyle Orton, most people just laugh because he isn’t a top tier option in fantasy football. However, Orton is probably at the bottom of most top 10 to 12 lists, and that means he could (and should) still be a starting quarterback on many teams. The stats don’t lie, in the last 3 years with 2 different teams (and 2 different playbooks), Orton averaged a 59.8% completion percentage, 40 total TD’s, 19 total INTs, and over 3700 yards per season. Not “lights out,” but it’s a better product than what many currently have.

Verdict: Orton might not leave Denver, but with both Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn looking to claim the starting spot in a (potential) open competition at quarterback, Orton very well could be out the door.

Destination: Orton is an enigma. I don’t think any team is looking to grab him for what he is. However, he could either be the guy that a team settles on (if they miss out on the Kolb deal for example), or he could be a guy to come in and help hold the position down for a while. He would be great in Tennessee, San Francisco, or Minnesota … but he also wants to play and it might not make sense to sign him if you’re only going to bench him halfway through the season for the younger quarterbacks you just drafted to get a shot (Locker, Kaepernick, and Ponder, respectively).

4. Donovan McNabb

My how the mighty have fallen. Last year at this point fans were looking at the McNabb situation in utter disbelief. Traded to a division rival? However, fast forward to this year and you can say you’re surprised for an entirely different set of circumstances. Washington finished their season with Rex Grossman as “the guy.” That means McNabb is an afterthought.

Verdict: McNabb is a smart player and might still have enough in the tank to prove something. If nothing else he can hold down a job until a rookie is ready.

Destination: We’ve heard Minnesota would be a great spot. That means Tennessee and San Francisco could also be destinations for McNabb to hold down the spot for a while as well. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see McNabb start to fade off into the sunset as father time might not be on his side. He could wind up with a team as a backup, but his situation basically will be determined by where everyone else goes and what everyone else needs.

5. Vince Young

For all of the problems, issues, and just pure controversy around Vince, he is an athlete, he does win, and he only just turned 28. Vince’s problems aren’t his ability; it’s his maturity. He would be perfect with a team that has the pieces and veteran presence. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him in Miami, where Tony Sparano and company might feel the hot seat and the need to win now. If there isn’t enough pure interest in Young, there are always veteran teams looking for a great backup, and the perfect locker room presence of veteran leadership could come from New England, Pittsburgh, or Baltimore.

Verdict: Young has pretty much proven his ability. He needs work, but more than anything he needs control. He should still get a shot somewhere because teams are willing to deal with “problem child” players who cause headaches if they can produce on the field.

Destination: Miami and Washington make the most sense. Neither are over the top teams, but both have enough pieces while still having questions at quarterback. That being said, Young’s issues are going to be with coaches and GMs overall. Teams will take a chance on a WR who’s a diva, or a linebacker with anger management issues. Not many people want an unstable quarterback. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him float around and become a backup.

Fantasy Football:

Top 5 Destinations Vince Young Could End Up

Arizona Cardinals

Around the League

Buffalo Bills

Miami Dolphins

Minnesota Vikings

San Francisco 49ers

Tennessee Titans

Vince Young

Vince Young Trade

Buffalo Bills Ryan Fitzpatrick had a good season and made the Bills competitive, but he can’t be looked at as the long-term solution at quarterback. They’ve already parted ways with head coach Jeff Fisher, and have since officially declared the Vince Young Era to be over.

Young will either be released or traded in the near future, depending on what happens with the league’s Collective Bargaining Agreement, although team owner Bud Adams has claimed they will not release their former franchise passer.

With that in mind, here are five possible trade destinations for Young, and why:

<a href="http://gridironexperts.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/copy-of-img71.jpg?9d7bd4" class="lightview" rel="gallery['15479']"" title="Buffalo Bills">Buffalo Bills

Ryan Fitzpatrick had a good season and made the Bills competitive, but he can’t be looked at as the long-term solution at quarterback. Young brings head coach Chan Gailey athleticism and potential, two attributes to covets in his starting quarterbacks. The Bills really are still in the rebuilding phase, so why not add a guy who still has a high ceiling and simply knows how to win games? Its a perfect fit.

Minnesota Vikings

Brett Favre is done in Minnesota, so the Vikings are officially rebuilding and looking for a new franchise passer. Whether that means they take a quarterback in the 2011 NFL Draft or not, they still can’t seriously be considering entering the 2011 season with no veteran help at the position. Joe Webb is a joke of a quarterback, while adding Vince Young could solve two problems at once: landing their quarterback of the future, while still remaining competitive.

Miami Dolphins

This is one of the more interesting possibilities, as its no secret that Miami would like to part ways with both head coach Tony Sparano and quarterback Chad Henne. With Henne’s days numbered, Young has to be a very attractive option, as he’s a proven winner in the league and has the ability to make plays with his feet, as well as his arm. Young isn’t Dan Marino, but he’d arguably be Miami’s most exciting passer since “The Man” hung’em up.

San Francisco 49ers

Jim Harbaugh enters his first NFL head coaching job, and for the moment will be going to battle with a roster of under-achieving talent at the quarterback position. Some might say Vince Young also falls under that category, but there’s still no doubting his talent, as well as Harbaugh’s ability to work magic with quarterbacks. If Young still has hope of being a star, Harbaugh would find a way to unleash that ability.

Arizona Cardinals

Have the Cardinals learned their lesson yet? They probably never would have imagined that Matt Leinart could have saved them from an embarrassing season, but looking back, he couldn’t have possibly done worse than a disgusting rotation of Derek Anderson, Max Hall, and John Skelton. Young brings veteran experience and great talent to a team that is still suffering from a Kurt Warner retirement hangover.

Honorable Mentions

The Jacksonville Jaguars need a quarterback and Jack Del Rio has been open about David Garrard not being an “elite” passer. Still, if a trade goes down, there’s almost no way the Titans do it within the division.

Washington is a very possible destination, but considering Mike Shanahan and co. just endured a horrible season via a trade for a veteran passer last season, its a safe bet they’ll look for their own guy in the draft this year.

Jimmy Clausen hasn’t won anyone’s heart in Carolina, but again, if the Panthers are going to get better at the position, its either via this year’s draft, or by Clausen establishing himself as a solid passer in 2011.

You can never leave out the Oakland Raiders. They love talent, athleticism, and potential, and Young has all three attributes. Al Davis is crazy enough to pull the trigger, but he’s also been crazy enough to back Jason Campbell. It’s always possible, but contrary to popular belief, its rather unlikely

Fantasy Football:

NFL Fantasy News: Impatiently Waiting!

Around the League

Carolina Panthers

Kansas City Chiefs

Gerald McCoy

Jonathan Stewart

Mike Wallace

NFL Fantasy News

Reggie Wayne

Vince Young

Daily Fantasy Football News

Fantasy Football:

Daily Fantasy Football News <a href="http://gridironexperts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/Marisa-McKee-12_18.jpg?9d7bd4" class="lightview" rel="gallery['12092']"" title="Hot Cheerleaders">

Jonathan Stewart – RB, Carolina Panthers NFL.com’s Mike Lombardi reports that Jonathan Stewart (Achilles surgery) is back to 100 percent.

Matt Cassel - QB, Kansas City Chiefs The Kansas City Star confirms that the Chiefs’ starting quarterback job is Matt Cassel’s “unequivocally.”

Donovan McNabb – QB, Washington Redskins New Redskins’ QB Donovan McNabb will be joined by teammates for voluntary workouts at McNabb’s Phoenix home starting Monday.

Jamaal Charles – RB, Kansas City Chiefs Jamaal Charles is expected to be the centerpiece of the Chiefs’ offense, according to beat writer Kent Babb.

Reggie Wayne – WR, Indianapolis Colts Reggie Wayne doesn’t sound serious about a holdout even though he is angling for a new contract.

Terrell Owens – WR, Buffalo Bills GM A.J. He won’t ever be a QB you say you have to draft in your fantasy league. But, VY is a better option than you may think.

Vince had better passing yards per game average last year than any other year in his career. And even without being a great gun-slinger, Vince will give you added bonus points with his rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. VY was also able to cut down on his turnovers. VY was also able to cut down on his turnovers. For the first time in his young career he had more touchdowns throwing, than he did interceptions. The former Long Horn has a tendency to put the ball on the ground often. He doesn’t lose a lot of his fumbles, but since he fumbles a lot there is always the risk of a turnover.

This true dual threat QB does do one thing great though: WIN. His best attribute is winning football games (unfortunately that doesn’t help you fantasy owners). And while, no one is likely to make Vince their weekly fantasy starter, a bye week replacement does offer an underrated option for fantasy owners this year.

Between weeks 4 through 10 the Titans face some tough competition. But you have to figure that the better the defense, the more likely Young is going to be involved in the game. With Chris Johnson making fools out of poor rushing defenses, VY’s fantasy job is as important as a holder for a kicker, simply giving the ball to Chris Johnson will wreck any week you plan on having to play VY. But against strong defense like Dallas in week 5, Philadelphia week 7 and Miami in week 10, you should except to see less easy 60 yard rushes from the RB, and more balanced attacks that involve the QB.

So what QB’s are on a bye in weeks 5, 7 and 10? How about: Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Philip Rivers and Drew Brees.

In week 5, the Cowboys game is on the road, which is a great day for VY to pick some rushing yards in the dome, plus should be a great back and forth contest. In week 7 the Eagles come to visit right before they go on a bye, which is known by some as a trap game, many players are already thinking about the much needed week off. Finally the Dolphins game is off a Titans bye week, players will be rested while the Dolphins will be battered and bruised from just playing the Ravens.

Overall, it would be wise to pick up another QB in the draft. With how much Young runs with the ball, he is always just one big hit away from being hurt again. Young’s inconsistent play should lead you to not be targeting him before the draft. Even if you are a huge fan of this QB, he shouldn’t be who you want as your only fantasy backup. But in you are in a keeper league and have one of the top quarterbacks listed above, a late round Vince Young selection could make an easy bye week replacement.

Fantasy Football:

06 NFL Draft Jumble: Mario, Vince, Reggie

Houston Texans

New Orleans Saints

NFL Draft / Off Season

Tennessee Titans

Mario Williams

Reggie Bush

Vince Young

2006 NFL Draft Jumble: What If?d could not have been a better choice for the Houston Texan organization. Vince Young clearly would have been a bad pick for the organization, as we all know how that turned out and Matt Schaub is proving he has what it takes to hang with the big boys. Fans can make a case for Reggie Bush over Mario Williams however Bush has yet proven that he can be a 20+ carry per game back, something that I think is vital if one is going to allocate their first round pick to a running back. Most hyped of that talent was RB Reggie Bush, QB Vince Young, and DE Mario Williams. After an almost unbearable 2-14 season the Texans secured the first pick in this draft. With that pick, Mario Williams was selected out of North Carolina. Was “Super-Mario” deserving of the number one pick? Should the Saints or Titans have traded up to acquire his service? Or are things just fine as they are?

Mario Williams was definitely worth the 1st overall selection an<a href="http://gridironexperts.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/w4dv0cgg4fys.jpg?9d7bd4" class="lightview" rel="gallery['9774']"" title="VY">d could not have been a better choice for the Houston Texan organization. Steve Slaton was a fantastic pick for the Texans two seasons ago and is now flourishing into a budding star; Reggie bush is not needed here. Houston didn’t need to go with one of the “sexy” picks, they could have opted to draft OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson (4th overall Jets) which wouldn’t have been a terrible move for the – at the time – worst offensive line in the league, but he wouldn’t have had as much of an impact as Williams. Alas, the Texans made the right decision, since his draft season Williams has recorded 30.5 sacks, 26 of those in the past two seasons. Over the past three seasons Reggie Bush has recorded 17 receiving touchdowns and 9 rushing, while in two years Slaton has accumulated 12 rushing and 5 receiving, so I think the Texans can live with that decision. And Vince young arguably shouldn’t even be in this conversation.

What if the Saints traded up for Mario Williams, or the Titans and things were completely different than they were today, would it be worthwhile for either team? The 3-13 Aints (at the time) arguably could have used the talent of a Mario Williams but Reggie Bush seems to be a great fit in Nawleans’. The two back system employed ever since he has been there has allowed him to play how he did in college – for the most part – if bush had to play on most downs you can rest assured his lateral quickness and agility would be seriously compromised. Vince Young again would not have been a good pick for the Saints; Brees has been the team’s savior.

The Titans on the other hand could have and would have been better off if they were able to attain the services of Mario Williams. The Titans defence has been potent for a while, and still is, but the departure of Albert Haynesworth has somewhat softened them up on the defensive line. With Williams the past two years, the Titans would have been even more dominant then they were on defense, and have had more security for its future. After a 2,000 yard season from Chris Johnson I’ll leave Reggie Bush’s name out of this as its clear not many in Tennessee would like to see this switch. Vince Young as we all know was the selection, I’ll admit that the verdict is still out on him, but I’m not his first taker.

All in all, I believe things worked out just fine as they are, The Texans acquired Mario Williams and did not end up needing the service of the other two players because of the Schaub and Slaton acquisitions. The Saints got exactly what they bargained for in Reggie Bush, they knew he would not be an every down back and would have to surround him with talent, that they did and well… look at them now. The Titans were clearly the losers in this one, but it was hard to surpass the natural game winning ability of Vince Young. The end of Young’s season wasn’t atrocious and he actually made it to the Pro-Bowl as an alternate, so maybe there’s hope for the young man yet. If that does happen, I think we can all agree that this draft worked out best for all three teams.

Fantasy Football:

Vince Young’s Amazing Drive

Tennessee Titans

Titans

Vince Young

Vince Young’s Amazing 99 yard Drive Week 12 had more than a few games come down to the wire, but none more impressive than Vince Young’s amazing comeback against the Cardinals. Most of the time, a team studies two quarterbacks, grills them, tests them, to see which of the two good quarterbacks can become great. In this case, both failed at one time or another- while shining at other times- and they are being tested to decide which one of them can at least become adequate enough to lead the team out of the 0-fer column.

After three days of mulling, Tennessee Coach Jeff Fisher named VY the starter for this week’s match-up against Jacksonville, with the apparent aid of Titans owner Bud Adams. Adams openly stated that he wanted to see more of Young, the 2006 Offensive Rookie of the Year.

And while starting Young seems to be the best decision for the team (Collins sunk to an all-time low on Oct. 18 when he completed just 2 of 12 passes for minus-7 yards), let’s not forget that Young has seen his own share of downward spiraling.

In fact, the culmination of VY’s descent to the bench came against this week’s opponent in 2008. Young was picked off twice and sprained his knee in the season opener against the Jaguars. Not exactly what the Titans were looking for after a dismal 2007 season in which he threw only 9 TD’s and was intercepted 17 times. Furthermore, Young was quoted as saying after his rookie season in 2006 that he’d already thought about quitting professional football altogether.

But on the flip side, the majority of Young’s success has come with his team apparently left for dead. When he stepped in for Collins in 2006, the Titans were off to a 0-2 start, which extended two more games to 0-4. From there, VY guided the team to an 8-4 finish, just one win shy of a playoff berth.

At times, Young has shown the ability to become a true dual-threat quarterback. Of course, an emphasis will always be placed on his running legs, as he doesn’t seem to be able to consistently throw for more than 200 yards a game. But Young’s ability to escape pressure or run by design opens up a whole new playbook for a team that averages just 14 points per game.

Topping it all off for Young is the fact that his boss (Adams) has publicly campaigned for him to become the starter. So the job should remain in Young’s hands for the remainder of the season, and this should mark the end of Collins’s career as a NFL starter. Collins turns 37 at the end of the year, and he’s proven to be no Brett Favre. At best, Collins could prove to be a fairly decent backup, just not in Tennessee.

From where the Titans sit, it’s VY or bust. If Young can’t take this second chance as a gift and run with it, then Tennessee must look to free agency or next year’s draft. Neither of those options seem as appealing as watching the man who single-handedly won the 2006 Rose Bowl and National Championship with the University of Texas, in one of the most dominant performances ever in any sport.

Receive 30% Off NFL Jackets.

Fantasy Football:

When do the Titans Start Vince Young?

Player Profiles

Tennessee Titans

Titans

Vince Young

When do the Titans Start Vince Young? A more in-depth look at the Titans season will help make this decision easier.

The Titans offense has been a middle of the pack unit when it comes to picking up yards, ranking 17th in the NFL with 336 yards per game, they also rank 24th in the league in scoring with 16.8 points per game. It’s fair to say that this offense is struggling in comparison with its tremendous success last season, but is it fair to say that Kerry Collins has been the reason?

The issue in Tennessee is a defensive issue. Allowing 27.9 points per game (ranked 29th in the league) the Titans are simply defeating themselves. Losing the time of possession battle in any football game is a sure way to give your opponent a better shot at a victory. This once absurd defense is having trouble forcing offenses off the field giving them an average of 35 minutes per game.

Placing an inexperienced quarterback in this situation may not be productive for this squad. Vince Young has proven a knack for winning but also a knack for interceptions, careless decisions, and poor judgment, more or less he has proven that he may not be able to hack it in the NFL.

Young is an exciting player but he only brings with him an average of 146 passing yards per game. He is not the answer to the Titans woes as a starting quarterback, although it couldn’t hurt to see him get involved in his once beloved offense. Expect Young to stay glued to the bench for the next few weeks unless Collins gets flattened or surprisingly pulled. If however the Titans cannot achieve a victory against the Patriots, Jaguars, or 49ers over the coming weeks, the season is definitely over and the only person worrying about who to start is Jeff Fisher as it could cost him his job.

Fantasy Football:
