Haynesworth Will Be At Training Camp
We all know the story, 100 million dollar man signs a “typically” Dan Snyder big money offseason deal….only to bite dust the following season. Haynesworth’s beef is the transition to a 3-4. Really? you make stupid money and could be apart of a very underrated up and coming defense and you’re mad about the defensive style? C’mon man, no guts no glory, suck it up.
Apparently the message has been sent, or at least the cameo will be made for paychecks.
“As I have previously said, I am continuing to prepare for the season individually and will report on time, in shape and ready to play football. Any issues I have with the club I will discuss privately and therefore do not plan to make any further public comments about this matter.” The hated DT Skin stated.
Rams re-sign Safety Atogwe
Safe-ty the best for last? -I think so, Oshiomogho Atogwe is one of the last defensive veteran free agents to sign that had any real value. Atogwe did not participate in any of the team’s offseason conditioning programs and has not attended any organized team activities in May or June, but was a must sign if the Rams wanted to have any sort of secondary in 2010. When I say the word veteran these days, it refers to a 29-year-old player that gets no credit as he was and is apart of a terrible growing Rams squad. Coach Steve Spagnuolo made a good push to get back his “veteran” safety leader.
Mike Vick: He Hate Me
Last year, Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez landed at No. 2, followed by Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, and Bills receiver Terrell Owens. But for back to back seasons Mike Vick, the wild-Eagle gadget play quarterback is the most hated sports figure. With a whopping 69%, the Jail-Bird who is trying to forget and move on finds himself the top of the list for Fobres mag.
Eagles Drunken Ego
ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio is reporting the Seattle Seahawks are calling “non-stop” about the Philadelphia quarterback Kevin Kolb (who has only ever started two games), it appears they’re only interested in the younger of the three QB’s.
Ok but get this…The Eagles, who still see Kolb as their future, would reportedly require two first-round picks in exchange for him. Seattle does have two picks in this years 1st round, but it’s hard to picture them parting with one, let alone both picks. The Eagles’ asking price for McNabb is said to be a first-round pick “plus something else.” What does that mean a couple of lap dances?
What gets me is the arrogance of the Philadelphia Eagles head office in believing that the asking price for such a young unproven quarterback is warranted. The Eagles need to take a few chances in order to get past the dreaded NFC Championship game, and gaining one 1st round pick could add the missing piece to the puzzle. Greed for a player that can be replaced in the middle round of this years draft is just stupid.

Excitement, anticipation, eagerness. These words don’t do justice to describe the once long awaited return of Michael Vick. Now that he’s back however, these words have been replaced with melancholy, inaccurate, and out of shape. Michael Vick has been a big waste of time for the Philadelphia Eagles unless he proves himself to be valuable over the second half of the season.
Prior to the Eagles vs. Redskins game in week 7, a whole to do was made about Michael Vick’s playing weight. It wasn’t until this week that he had gotten back to his playing weight of 2006. This is a huge on field factor and is coupled with the fact that others have gotten into the heads of the coaching staff suggesting not to trust this former all pro QB. The Eagles favorite play for Michael Vick is a handoff out of the Wildcat formation, and his stat line consists of 6 attempted passes, 2 completions for 6 yards, and 11 rushes for 25 yards.
The Eagles have a great history of team management over the past decade, so why did they opt to pick up perhaps the most controversial player in NFL history? It’s simple, because of what he could have brought to the team for only $1.6 million on the season. At this price the three time pro-bowler is a steal for the Eagles who were adding offensive weapons like rapid fire this offseason (Peters, Maclin, McCoy, Weaver, Ingram, Gibson, Stacey Andrews). Vick’s contract has an option for next season at $5.2 million; rest assured he will not be seeing that from the Eagles.

Vick’s presence on the field still has the ability to throw off any NFL defense, however not in the manner in which the Eagles use him. It’s known now that if Michael Vick gets on the field he will be taking the snap out of the Wildcat and either handing it off, or running the QB option. With this in mind, Vick’s presence is rendered null, and he is no longer even a decoy, just a waste of time.
The bottom line to the whole Michael Vick scenario might just be the presence of Eagles WR Desean Jackson. Jackson is a magnet for electricity, he’s virtually a human lightning rod, so it’s clear that Michael Vick is standing too close to him on the sidelines, but with those rubber cleats he is more grounded than electrified. Vick was once called the most “electric” player in the NFL, now he functions as the most prolific NFL decoy.
Mike Vick Buy Low Sell High
No team has made bigger headlines than the Philadelphia Eagles this off-season. They have sort of a Lindsay Lohan obsession with being the center of attention in the sports world these days. Whether it’s McNabb’s contract and demand for offensive weapons, or shocking the world with the signing of Mike Vick, there is always some news coming out of Philadelphia.
The Mike Vick signing seems almost pointless and troublesome for the Eagles. A shot at a Super Bowl run is definitely a realistic goal, but with questions and interviews from all types of media including those outside of the sports world, the distraction seems like more baggage than what Vick is worth. The notion that the Wildcat formation is the missing link to this team’s success is just stupid, as the NFL will no doubt adapt to the one-hit-wonder offense that so many teams ran last year. You have to figure defensive coordinators spent countless hours game planning for the Wildcat all off-season, just in case teams still decide to run it again this year.
Probably one of the stupidest things I saw all weekend was Jamie Dukes on the NFL Network drawing up plays on how the Eagles were going to use Vick in their offense. Jamie, a former offensive lineman, had four plays that fit more into a Harlem Globetrotters playbook than a real NFL offense. Crazy plays included McNabb flipping the ball to Vick only to then have Vick throw the ball to McNabb for a touchdown. Really? Such plays wouldn’t work in Madden ’10 the video game let alone an NFL offense. At best you’ll see a couple option plays where Vick will be put in motion with the opportunity to throw, but I’m sure he’ll be more of a distraction to the defense and be used more as a decoy than anything. …Continue reading Mike Vick Buy Low Sell High
