Sunday Night Preview: Eagles-Bears

The sports betting world turns its attention to Soldier Field this Sunday night as the Chicago Bears host the Philadelphia Eagles in the last game of the day. The Bears have had nine days to prepare for this contest after playing on Thursday night last week, but that may not be enough. Their problems have been stemming from a lack of personnel and not necessarily a lack of preparation time.

The Bears are 4-5 and have lost two straight games. Overall, they have lost four of their last five games with their only win coming against the Cleveland Browns. At this point – in Week 11 of the NFL season – NFL betting cappers have to accept that the Bears just aren’t a very good team this year. On offense, the Bears have upgraded their quarterback Jay Cutler but they don’t have anyone around him to help. Matt Forte and the Bears running game have hit a wall as they are ranked 30th in the NFL. The receivers are pathetic and the offensive line is a group of turnstiles. On the whole, this team just doesn’t have a whole heck of a lot of playmakers.

Meanwhile, the Eagles have also lost two straight but their losses came to the San Diego Chargers and Dallas Cowboys – two teams that are atop their divisions. The Bears should be a much easier task for them.

Internet Betting Odds: Eagles -3

The Eagles are a pass-oriented team and that should be a concern for the Bears and their pass defense. So far this year, the Bears secondary has given up 16 touchdowns, which is fifth most in the NFL, and they also don’t sack the quarterback very much – they have just 18 sacks on the year.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are going to very much be throwing the ball around as they typically do. The Eagles have 33 passing plays of 20+ yards, which is the fourth most in the NFL, and they lead the league in passing plays of 40+ yards with 11. They are going to find holes in the Bears secondary just as pretty much every other team has.

On the flip side, the turnover prone Cutler is going up against a high-pressure defense and a good secondary. You can pretty much bank on a couple of turnovers from him as the Bears get stomped at home.
