Shonn Greene Machine
Greene Means Go
With the loss of Leon Washington for the season with a broken leg, the New York Jets rushing attack just got a little less explosive. That is, if you’re not counting rookie Shonn Greene and tiny Chadron State product Danny Woodhead in the mix.
We’re not in love with Woodhead’s fantasy value, but his athleticism and solid productivity in Week Seven (three carries, 24 yards) warrants more touches. At the very worst, keep an eye on how Rex Ryan distributes the carries going forward.
With that said, there’s no question that Shonn Greene’s value has rien dramatically in the past few days. Greene should inherit all of Washngton’s touches, and after a stellar 120+ yards and two scores against the Oakland Raiders, he will definitely be getting more carries to prove his worth.
Earlier in the off-season fans and experts alike were gushing over his potential and his possible “4th quarter” role in the offense, but it never materialized. Well, call this opportunity numero uno. Greene will be a huge part of the Jets offensive scheme, as they continue to try to take as much pressure off of rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez as they possibly can.
Look for a solid 12-15 total touches per game goin forward, with solid upside toward more touches and the type of production we witnessed against the Raiders. His match-up with the average Miami Dolphins is a solid one, and he makes for an elite Flex play with Washington out of the picture.
Fantasy Prediction wk 8: 14 att, 76 yards, 1 TD, 2 rec, 18 yards, 0 TD
