Famtasy Football Player RankingsFantasy Rankings: Wildcard Weekend

There are many post-season playoff games for fantasy football. Probably one of the more popular games is offered at NFL.com. The concept is very simple, pick a starting lineup and receive points based on your players game production. Every player that makes the next round is then awarded double, triple and even quadruple points for each round they advances in the playoffs. There is some strategy involved, but basically it’s just a rolled back version of what you have been playing all year.

The following are Gridiron Experts wildcard weekend fantasy player staff rankings:

Quarterback Rankings

Quarterbacks Opp Mike Jody Zach Jason Zhan Bob Staff Rankings
Nick Foles – Phi vs. NO 2 1 2 2 2 2 1.83
Drew Brees – NO at Phi 1 4 1 1 1 4 2
Aaron Rodgers – GB vs. SF 3 2 4 3 3 3 3
Colin Kaepernick – SF at GB 6 5 3 4 4 1 3.83
Philip Rivers – SD at Cin 4 7 6 6 5 5 5.5
Andy Dalton – Cin vs. SD 5 3 7 5 7 6 5.5
Andrew Luck – Ind vs. KC 7 6 5 7 6 7 6.3
Alex Smith – KC at Ind 8 8 8 8 8 8 8

Nick Foles is one of the safest fantasy starts this weekend. The up and coming Eagles quarterback has grown so much in such a short time as the team’s starting quarterback. Foles and the Birds will feed off their fanbase this weekend, a huge luxury for their matchup against the saints. Colin Kaepernick also see’s a high grade from our staff, facing a Packers team that will be out Clay Matthews for first round of the playoffs.

Running Back Rankings

Ryan MathewsThe standard heavy weights Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy top our running back rankings as expected. Both speedy RB’s were centerpieces in many fantasy championship teams this season. Soon-to-be Offensive Rookie of the year Eddie Lacy holds strong as our third overall RB on our list. The Packers are a team many are picking as a potential spoiler now that Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb have returned.

Probably one of the biggest sleepers on our board is Ryan Mathews. If the Chargers can slip by the first round they will face the Broncos in the second round of the playoffs, a team they have beaten this year. While it’s very unlikely that the Chargers will run the table, Mathews has been one of the hottest players over the second half of the season.

Quinton Patton – SF at GB 28 29 28 24 28 27.4
Darrius Heyward-Bey – Ind vs. KC 29 28 29 29 29 28.8

One thing to keep in mind when playing in fantasy post-season leagues is the amazing upgrade from seasoned veterans. Rookie mistakes happen all the time, but as the years pass it’s the players that have been in the league longer that realize just how hard it is to make the playoffs. Those are the types of players that amp up their game. While A.J Green is our obvious standout top fantasy wide Receiver, expect solid production from players like: Jordy Nelson, Anquan Boldin and DeSean Jackson to have great games.

Tight End Rankings

Tight Ends Opp Mike Jody Zach Jason Zhan Bob Staff Rankings
Jimmy Graham – NO at Phi 1 1 1 1 1 1 1
Vernon Davis – SF at GB 2 2 2 2 2 2 2
Antonio Gates – SD at Cin 4 4 3 3 4 5 3.8

Zach Ertz – Phi vs. NO 6 9 5 6 5 4 5.8
Ladarius Green – SD at Cin 10 5 10 7 6 6 7.3
Jermaine Gresham – Cin vs. SD 7 7 7 9 8 7 7.5
Andrew Quarless – GB vs. SF 9 6 9 8 9 10 8.5
Tyler Eifert – Cin vs. SD 8 10 8 10 10 9 9.2
Anthony Fasano – KC at Ind 11 11 11 11 11 11 11
Sean McGrath – KC at Ind 12 12 12 12 12 12 12

Outside of Jimmy Graham and V.Daivs and A.Gates, this isn’t the sexiest group of fantasy players. If you’re trying to pick a team that goes against the standard choices, a sleeper like Coby Fleener or Andrew Quarless could really payoff if there is a surprises wildcard weekend.
