No Country For Old Men: Brian Westbrook Gone
No Country For Old Men: Brian Westbrook To Be Cut
Yesterday LaDainian Tomlinson got his pink slip, today its Brain Westbrooks turn, well, sort of. Due to contact technicalities the Philadelphia Eagles have to wait until the start of the new league year next month, before releasing him but either way he’s done in Philly green.
The domino affect has definitely begun in the NFL for cutting the fat. Heavy contacts of aged, injured players are not for weak stomach and need to be let go. The NFL is a business and Brain Westbrook despite his amazing offensive output for the Birds is past his prime.
Brain Westbrook led the league in 2007 with 2,104 yards from scrimmage. He rushed for 1,333 yards and accounted for 12 touchdowns. More importantly he was a go-to weapon for Donovan McNabb when the team refused to admit that their receiving core was below average.
Fantasy Football owners of rookie LeSean McCoy can smile as the starting job is his with no distractions, still Eagles fans know in their hearts that one of the best multi threat players to ever wear a Eagles jersey is now gone.
