NFL Week 3: Money Where Your Mouth Is
Money Where Your Mouth Is
This a column that puts our expertise to the test, as we show a couple of the bets that we are placing on specific games or prop bets offered by the many sports books and casinos. Of course we are a fantasy football advisory site, but we also take pride in our pick’em pool strategies. Our goal is to help you win pools & prizes, but if you can’t afford to play…then don’t
Why is the this games spread so low? It’s called an overlook game and we normally stay away from them.
An overlook game is when a team is not focusing on their opponent throughout the week, but the following weeks match-up. McNabb returns to Philadelphia in week 4 and sportsbooks have created a tempting low point spread to hopefully catch you off guard. The injury to Left Tackle Trent Williams is also a concern that has this games prediction so close. McNabb’s ankle doesn’t seem to be a problem, but protecting his blind-side is always a concern, no matter who the QB is.
The Rams are an improved team from a year ago, but they are not going to win this game. McNabb surprised our fantasy expert with his 400+ passing yards and look in sync in this new offense with smart on target throws. The Shanahan running game hasn’t shown up yet, but there’s no better team to work things out against than St.Louis. The Rams at nearly babies at all the skilled positions, Steven Jackson will be shadowed from the first snap, forcing Sam Bradford to make throws into a disguised defense. The Skins will pull away in the second half.
The Steelers are 2-0 without their star quarterback, what does that tell you? It tells you the coaching staff is prepared, smart and confident they can game plan with what they have. The Steelers defense alone has been known to take over a game and the running attack doesn’t need Roethlisberger to specifically be there. With two veteran backup QBs subbing in to help the passing game along with the overall confidence the team has after a 2-0 start without their offensive leader, the lucky Buc’s are a no contest.
The Ravens have faced two of the toughest defense’s to start their 2010 season and now get to excite the home fans in what I expect to be a blow out win. The Browns are an improved team, but on the road without a experienced quarterback to face the Ravens Defense, 10.5 points should not be a problem
Eagles / Jaguars Over 44.5 points
The Eagles can score as fast as they can be scored on. Mike Vick is an electric all or nothing quarterback that should move the chains throughout the day. It’s the Birds defense that will force a shoot-out. The Eagles are on the road facing an embarrassed Jaguars crew that includes a Jekyll and Hide QB that was benched last week. David Garrard kicked of the season with a near perfect day, but on the road in week 2 his day was atrocious.
With the Eagles focusing all their attention on Jones-Drew, Garrard and the Jaguars will be able to take some shots for points. I expect the Tight End Marcedes Lewis to have a solid day. The Eagles defense unit always struggle against receiving tight ends up the middle.
